When allocating work plans there are many things that need to be taken into consideration but before this can take place the organisation needs to have a clear understanding of the business direction plan so it can develop a strategic plan which will lead to the visions & goals of the organisation. It needs to clearly identify the needs, wants & expectations of the customer to base a clear communicated mission & value statement for the organisation. This may be done in collaboration with many people but will enable everyone in the organisation to pull in the same direction. Without a performance plan it is difficult for an organisation to meet it strategic objectives. The performance plan provides clarity & direction so all employees are working towards the same outcome as directed by the organisation. This is why it is important to develop & implement a performance management system that encourage staff & motivate high level performance. It must address role clarity by modifying and enriching their job, support & training to create new & improved skills, address communication by feedback, career development and a reward system. Follow any steps that have been laid out in your policies and procedures, ensure you talk about the issue not the person. It must be demonstrated that every possible step has been taken to support an employee before they are terminated giving the employee every chance to respond to the request and have been fully supported to address the performance. Employees cannot be dismissed based on circumstances that are unjust or unreasonable. Ensure you engage the support of HR, provide the employee the chance to have a support representative present if required and ensure they have been given every chance to respond to your requests.
