Romeo is a reserved, serious, self-absorbed romantic. His intense emotion drives him and, in love, he is a victim of rash youth. At the beginning of the play, Romeo is overcome with self-pity because Rosalind does not share his love: “Doth add more grief to too much of mine own” (Act 1, scene 1). However, Romeo is an emotional yo-yo and soon rises from the depths of depression when he meets Juliet at a masked ball and instantly falls madly in love with her “O she doth teach the torches to burn bright” (Act 1, scene 5). His personality is characterised by extreme mood-swings.
When Romeo kills Tybalt he must run before the prince comes: “Romeo, away, be gone! / The citizens are up, and Tybalt slain” (3.1.134-135). After Tybalt kills Mercutio, Romeo overreacted and killed Tybalt, which led to his banishment, then Capulet accepting Paris’ proposal, then the friar’s plan, and finally Romeo and Juliet’s death. Romeo and Juliet are young and their emotions take over so they easily
On line 2 Benvolio says ‘The day is hot’ that gives the sense foreboding. Mercutio fights Tybalt as he is trying to hurt his best friend and Romeo declined the duel. Romeo steps between them and Tybalt strikes Mercutio under Romeo’s arm. ‘A plague a’both your houses!’ Mercutio repeats this three times in this scene to get the message across he is blaming both Romeo and Tybalt for his death. Mercutio responsibilities Romeo for Tybalt killing him ‘I was hurt under your arm’ Romeo feels guilty about Mercutio’s death even though the audience know it is not his fault.
Firstly, Shakespeare designs Romeo and Juliet’s character as youngsters who are extremely hasty. Romeo demonstrates his hastiness when he has a fencing duel with Tybalt. When Mercutio gets stabbed he immediately decides to seek revenge from Tybalt, without putting any thought into his decision. In order to receive revenge, he thinks that, “Staying for thine to keep him company: / Either thou, or I, or both, must go with him” (3.1.128-129). In other words, he believes that Tybalt, or Romeo or both of them shall lie dead with Mercutio.
When Tybalt recognizes Romeo’s voice at the party, he orders his servant to “fetch him his rapier” and views “striking [Romeo] dead” as “not a sin” because of the “stock and honor of his kin”(Shakespeare I. vi. 62,66-67. Tybalt immediately tries to attack Romeo upon recognizing his voice and in order to defend his pride, feels the need to show Romeo (and guests) who is superior by having a duel with him. However, when Tybalt is forced to leave Romeo alone due to Capulet’s orders, he becomes very vengeful as his ego is hurt because he finds it insulting to be unable to fight a Montague in his presence. Tybalt clearly is motivated by self-interest because he mainly thinks about defending his pride, and thus, has the urge to kill Romeo at a party without thinking about the disgracing the Capulet name.
Relationships in Great Gatsby are not “loving”and tend to be more motivated by money than true love. Gatsby does love Daisy, but is in love with his dream version of Daisy from the first time they met. Daisy does not love Gatsby, but loves the material wealth that he provides. I chose to write my poem about love because in the novel love is always in the air and is very
Friar John, go hence, get me an iron crow and bring it straight unto my cell” (Shakespeare 5.2, 18-23). Fate ruins Friar Laurence plan to reunite Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence tries to fix the plan but fate comes in to making the plan completely failure and end in Romeo and Juliet’s death. Fate makes it that Balthazar to reach Romeo first with the false news. So Romeo buys the poison to die next to Juliet.
Lord Capulet told him to leave Romeo alone hearing that he was a good boy and this angered Tybalt. He exposed Romeo in a matter of minutes and his friends. He always riminded Lord and Lady Capulet about how much he hated and didnt trust the Montagues. Even when he was alone he cause trouble with them. In the streets when Romeo and his friends were walking he couldn’t stand his pride being hurt at the party so he started a fight by making fun of Mercutio.
Later, Romeo hesitates again about the party but Mercutio convinces him once again. Mercutio and Romeo are ready for the party, they leave: “I fear, too early for my mind misgives some consequence, yet hanging in the starts shall bitterly begin his fearful date” (I.IV.106). This shows that Romeo does not know how to control himself by getting peer pressured again by Mercutio. Several time Romeo doubt his own feelings about not attending the party, but Romeo’s desires get the better of him by leading to his death. Further more, Romeo getting married to Juliet is another bad choice of his.
