Others cleared spaces in the forest to build villages and make new fields. In their own lands, most Anglo-Saxons were farmers. They lived in family groups in villages, not cities. Since they lived close to the sea and big rivers, many Anglo-Saxons were sailors too. They built wooden ships with oars and sails, for trade and to settle in new lands.
In class, we talked about many Latin American countries. Many of these countries have similar experiences, including what they think of when they of race. Most of these countries were colonialize and many of them have slaves. This includes the United States of America. But one thing we have learned throughout the duration in the class is that every country has different experience than one another when it comes to race relation.
The Mayans also evolved the only true writing system native to the Americas using pictographs and syllabic elements in the form of texts and codices inscribed on stone, pottery, wood, or highly perishable books made from bark paper. No other civilization such as the Tainos also known as the Arwaks or the Kalinagos were that advanced, a matter of fact the Mayans were the most advanced of the neo Indians. The Mayans made writing, mathematics, the calendar system and great architecture buildings. Since the Spaniards burned most of the Mayan books, some of the Mayan history is limited. However, it is known that the Mayan people invented a fully functioning system of writing using pictures to represent
Not just the way they were settled made them different but also how their religious ways shaped them up. Virginia and Massachusetts both knew they had to have a strong economic settlement but their religious view also had a great impact that resulted differently in both systems. The Puritans which lived in Massachusetts; they believed that there was no need for excessive profits. Another problem Virginia had was that from the start they had problems with the Native Americans. Which was the complete opposite in the Massachusetts case because they learned it would be better if they got along with the natives.
Hispanic American Diversity In this assignment I had to write about Mexican-American and Puerto Rican diversity. The other two that I chose to write about are Nicaraguans and Cubans. I want to start with the Mexican-American culture. This is a culture that I am somewhat experienced with. This culture is very much into family.
Colonists in New England also had to grow their own food, so they had small farms. Many people lived and worked in town, and grew crops or raised a few animals on a small farm. New Englanders did not live on large, independent farms like settlers in the middle and southern colonies because they did not have either flat land or rich soil. The Chesapeake Bay area, however, had many bodies of water flowing around, through, or near it. The proximity to all of this water affects the environment of the peninsula, causing it to have a very moderate climate.

They traded many items such as: animal skins, cacao, cotton, honey and e.t.c. One of the most reliable resources was salt. Salt gets collected from the coasts but it was mostly collected from the Yucatan Peninsula. The Mayans also as well grew corn and maize but they decided not to trade those items but instead to use it for their own society. Some cities as Copan and El Mirador traded items such as cacao, animal skin, and cotton.
More often than not it was a battle of wills between the slave and their master – and due to politics being dramatically unfavourable against the blacks, the masters would often abuse this political freedom in their punishment. However, this would cause a lot of expense and trouble to masters so it was soon established that slaves could cause severe inconvenience and disruption to their business if masters continued like this. Once reasonable authority was exerted by the slaves, many masters saw it easier to let them work within (comparatively) bigger perimeters. Masters tended not to push this convention as slaves had nothing to lose whereas masters had money and pride at stake if some, unspoken, boundaries weren't set. By using the same racist nicknames which whites called blacks, such as “niggers”, with each other, it ridiculed the whole scenario.
Sadly, diseases brought from the Old World wiped out many native civilizations in the New World. 4. The pattern of colonial contact in the Northeast was based more in commerce and trading. They established relationships with the natives with an exchange of goods and ideas. The fisherman were not really interested in conquest, but rather a mutually successful relationship that was beneficial to both.
