It is imperative for case managers to use intervention practices that will prevent risks, reduce the negative behavior, and promote productivity and success. Intervention practices are included in case management plans because they serve as actions to improve life situations. The concept with helping clients in the criminal justice is complex because each person is different and unique, so therefore, the treatment and services have to be different to promote success. Government versus Private Security Employees Alan Shank AJS/502 June 2, 2014 Donald Vinci Government versus Private Security Employees Comparing government and private security is important in the field of criminal justice as the field moves toward a future of technological changes and the desire to keep the public safe while keeping costs down. To examine these two separate areas of criminal justice they will be broken down to see how each one is structured and the primary goals for each one. Government and private security can be used to describe the methods that we use in the world to keep people and their goods safe. Each of these two entities, however has distinct differences and similarities that can be compared to determine the benefit and drawback of each type of security. There is a difference if managerial structures and legal ramifications for employees completing their job duties, additionally each one has their own ethics that they function within (Roufa, n.d.).
Police force protects our rights as citizens, enforces the law, and it helps shape a society to make moral and ethical decisions. However, one may argue that the use of police force can be too extreme and that it strips citizens of their rights. This issue leads to an important question, should we expand or reduce the use of police force? According to a news article, “The police can be described as a constituted body of persons that are empowered by the state to enforce the law, limit civil disorder, and protect property” (news.linktv.org). Law enforcement constitutes the part of the policing activity itself.
The Relationship Lens helped influence my decision by giving us a process by which basic liberties can be protected. Partnerships The relationship between private security and public police is one that has been argued for decades. Establishing partnerships between private security and public law enforcement agencies would be beneficial to both law enforcement and the private sector. The NYPD Shield program is an excellent example of public law enforcement and private security partnering for the good of the community. As evolution took hold of the colonies, they became cities and towns making it necessary to create a more organized form of law enforcement. New York later took on the same idea creating the Shout and Rattle Watch in 1651(Schmallager, 2009). Through the success in some areas of these teams and the weaknesses in other areas, Philadelphia felt that policing could be more productive if the area was divided and assigned small teams per area.
