Exordium: introduction
Every 13 seconds a child is abused by a parent or by someone close. According to the National Committee for the Prosecution of Child Abuse, approximately 18,000 children are permanently disabled and 2,000 die from physical abuse and neglect each year. In 1997, over 3 million reports of child abuse and neglect were confirmed by child protective service agencies in the U.S. Child abuse is a progressively malicious and appalling issue in today’s world. The question on everyone’s mind is what are the most effective approaches we can take to prevent it?
Narratio: sets forth facts of the case
The law states that spanking, which is the least appropriate form of discipline, is where only one or two flat handed swats on a child’s wrist or rear is permitted. However, anything trespassing that regulation can be considered as child abuse. The types of child abuse inflicted on a child can be physical, emotional, sexual or neglect. The causes of child abuse is typically when the abuser is abusing drugs, mentally ill (depressed or stressed), or crosses the line in disciplining the child.

Fortunately, child abuse can be reduced by having an effective Child Protection System, Community Notification Laws, and rehabilitation of the child abusers. These are the most valuable techniques that we can use to reduce child abuse.
