I was also identified as cooperating, I love working in an environment where I can work and collaborate with others. Another one of my competencies was leading, I like effective leading a team to greatness. In my current role I am a manager which leads into my next competencies; coping with pressure, and adapting to change. The course has taught me to self-reflect, this has enable me to identify and develop personal awareness, Also the course has allowed me to be more aware on how to remain emotionally detached from the relationship that I will be developing with a client. I am a good candidate for Year Up because I have many personal values that will contribute to the Year Up program. Some of my values are achievement, knowledge, and personal commitment. Some personal strengths ( NO APOSTROPHE ON STRENGTHS) that I have are that I’m hard working and motivated. I feel these personal values will contribute to my success as AN IT professional. (OK I COULDN'T RESIST A WORD USGAE ERROR!)
I feel that most of the things that I thought I was good at doing, I have become great at because of the way the information was relayed to me. The teamwork projects and assignments taught me that it’s ok to let someone else help me complete a task. It also showed me that some others are just as motivated and focused as I am. A lot of the classmates that I was placed in groups with were just on a hello and goodbye greeting basis
The Career Plan Building Activities made me realize I have strengths in the areas of coping with pressure, delivering result, following instructions, and adapting to change. These strengths will help me to be an excellent leader and encourage employees to do their best to deliver positive results for the company. I will be able to handle any circumstance and make beneficial and effective decisions. I will have to make sure I am thinking critically when evaluating arguments. I know how to recognize fallacies and can judge the validity and credibility of the source.
I selected the contemporary topic of employee engagement/satisfaction for two reasons. First of all, this topic is relevant to my current role as I strive to assist our organization in attracting and retaining the right candidates for the right job. Secondly, this topic is of a personal interest to me as I am currently evaluation my own engagement and satisfaction in my current role. While I thoroughly enjoy my job, I am very interested in growing in my profession and am currently contemplating next steps for my career. Employee engagement is defined as the “individual’s involvement and satisfaction with as well as enthusiasm for work” (Harter, Schmidt, & Hayes, 2002, p.269).
I understand the value of body language and behaviour. It’s important to do as I do and not as I say. I’m open to ideas and contributions and never dismiss an idea, even if it seems implausible at first. I have faith in my team and what they can achieve. I was instrumental in building the team, so must also take responsibility for its strengths and weaknesses.
Understanding how team work. Team working can be more productive than working individually as you work with more people achieving the same goal, people who have different skills and experiences and also different strengths and weaknesses. You can split the task in to small sections and give every one something to do, this will speed the process of achieving the goal. As a team you can help each other’s and share ideas so that best work is produced. Characteristics of effective team: Defined Roles It is important to decide who is doing what and who is going to be the leader (leader should be someone who is confident and able to lead).
It always a benefit to know your competencies and personal profile cause it helps strengthen your skills that you already have and it help your build for the future in know what you have to do to move forward and be better at what you do. As for me meeting people and helping other is something that I love to do. Being an Administrative Assistant, I meet different ethnicity of people that need assistants with application or information on how to go about getting forms completed. I felt my education goal should be in the area where I meet and help people. I have a weakening of going over and beyond in helping people and I tend to go over and beyond with clients.
