The Witch says she will kill Aslan instead of Edmund as they agreed.
During a meeting with the Wizard, Elphaba discovers he is from another world. Not only has she discovered he is from another world, but he might be her real father. Elphaba begins to become obsessed with Dorothy shoes and slowly loses her grasp of reality. In the end, the Wizard directs Dorothy and her traveling companions to go to Elphaba's house and kill her. After a short battle, Dorothy kills Elphaba by drenching her with water.
In order for Maria and Sam to get to the main floor they must first take out two “thumb thumbs”. Maria comes up with a brilliant plan and she draws the two brainless thumbs towards her direction by telling Sam to whistle at them so that she will be able to throw a piece of gum on them. The opening scene takes place at the dead of night, establishing a dark, ominous tone. Emotions are running high and things quickly escalate as one of the girls, Abigail, breaks the neck of a chicken and smears its blood on her face, while another girl strips naked. This is a cathartic experience whereby they release pent up sexual frustration; one may assume this is an unpleasant side effect of a society that places far too much emphasis on suppressing all natural human desire. They are caught by Reverend Parris, a minister, and quickly scramble off.
