As the need to confront unplanned growth increases, planners, policymakers, and citizens are scrambling for practical tools and examples of successful and workable approaches. During the colonization of America, European countries put a strong influence on the architecture of their own colonies. British, French, and Dutch colonies differed in building design, but not just by the original styles of their country, but also by the climate in the region as well.
