Vedadi, Pouya The definition of a gang is a group of individuals which shares an identity and a common purpose. There are many times of gangs, but typically when you hear about the word “gang”, you right away think about a criminal organization or criminal affiliation. Gangs usually represent themselves with graffiti tags, jewelry, hand signs, hair styles, fingernails, slogans, and secret greetings. Gang violence usually occurs to people who are innocent, have property, or involved in other gang groups. For instance, the Bloods wear red clothing and the Crips wear blue clothing to represent their affiliation and to signify themselves differently. Prison gangs often seek to intimidate the other inmates, pressuring them to surrender their food and other resources. This is a way to gain psychological control in jail, and most often rape happens in jail also. Rape is not only a physically and psychologically damaging experience, inmate’s experiences some form of pressured or coerced sexual conduct while incarcerated. They also murder or kidnap other inmates to show a psychological gain and control of other convicts. This is a feeling of control and authority and power in jail. This is a sick presentation and awful test for a person to experience but it often happens all the time in jail and we can’t do anything about it. The psychosomatic reason of why kidnapping, rape, and murder occurs in jail is because when they were youngsters, they never belonged in group activities with their family or even worse, their parents left them as orphans in a young age. Many of them were sexually abused or physically abused as children and they want some pay back as adults. He was only fifteen when he died and it was because of gang violence. You can now imagine how hard it was for me to lose him as a friend and a relative. The purpose why I am sharing this information to you guys is to teach you not to go the wrong routes that my cousin did in his life.
