Hands down one of my favorite homemade treats would have to be chocolate chip cookies. From the smell of the kitchen to the gooey, hot cookies coming out of the oven, making chocolate chip cookies makes any day a good one. Oftentimes, my mother and I make the cookies together to enjoy some conversation and time while making a delicious treat. Chocolate chip cookies not only bring my mother and me together, but they provide us with an enjoyable treat. Not to mention that they allow us to share them with our entire family once we have our tasty, finished product. Throughout the generations, bakers have set out to perfect the ideal chocolate chip cookie. For me this would be a cookie that’s moist and chewy on the inside and crisp at the edges, with deep notes of toffee and butterscotch to balance its sweetness. During my seventeen years, my mother and I have enjoyed experimenting with different recipes to come across that perfect chocolate chip cookie. From the recipe on the back of the Toll House chocolate chip bags to the more gourmet recipes, it seemed that we had tried it all until just recently we came across an article titled “The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie” and that’s just what it was, perfect. Personally, I prefer the original chocolate chip cookie, but some people like to add all sorts of nuts, oatmeal, and other chocolate flavored chips such as, butterscotch and white chocolate. The first step to making anything is gathering the ingredients. To prevent having to make a call to the neighbor’s house or a quick trip to the grocery store it is essential that we make sure that we have all of the necessary ingredients and tools to make the cookies before we start. For this recipe we will need: 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour ½ teaspoon baking soda 14 tablespoons (1 ¾ sticks) of butter ¾ cup packed dark brown sugar ½ cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon
