Communications Journal Entry 1 The company that I work for manufactures ECU and sensor parts for automotive vehicles. We are an on-demand supplier and I am currently a line manager for the assembly department. We have several departments within my company so it is very important for all of us to work together and communicate well to ensure we produce high quality parts on time. We currently run multiple shifts and communication is critical to success. We utitilize cb radio's within our department, shipping, and maintenance. All three departments have radios so when someone needs something they can simply key their mike and ask for it. This allows for fast service wherever you are in the building. Managers are constantly seeking information on their tema membes to help them get faster and keep the quality of their work up. As a line manager it is my responsibility to ensure my line members are working to their full potential. I observe their techniques and get cycle times and offer advice to make them better.Therefore, I feel that is essential for me to have good intrapersonal communication skills. Communication with others on a one-on-one or interpersonal way is a neccessity to success in my workplace. Working on assembling product requires good communication with the people working beside you and with the supporting team members. If I am unable to tell the people what I need from them then things will not get done in the necessary time or with the quality that is needed. There are many groups within my company. There are several departments and the department I am apart of has a mounting group and an assembly group and within those groups are individual lines. Having multiple groups involves good communication skills. If there is a quality issue in the mounting department it can affect the assembly department as well. Emails are typically sent out to the department head as well as the line manager to ensure that each group is aware of all situations. There is room for improvement with the Japanese members as well as with other departments and shifts, but overall we do a good job at working together in order to get things done.
