His retardation sometimes causes others at the ranch to shun him; even to the point of thinking he is "cuckoo." Since Lennie cannot think as quickly as the other men, he is often set aside and isolated from them. He is unable to take an active part in conversations because George, Lennie's best friend and travelling companion, is the only one who can understand him. Lennie is frequently off in his own dream world and is constantly preoccupied with dreams of the farm which he and George someday hope to buy. .’ “An’ have rabbits.” ‘As a result, Lennie is unable to face reality at times, a fact which puts him even more out of touch with the real world and with other workers.
We couldn’t keep a fire like that going, not if we tried.”(William Golding p.52) And since he doesn’t have a good relationship with others, they are always mean to him. However Jack commented back “ A fat lot, you tried.. You just sat.” Clearly just cause of his weight , everyone doesn’t want to have any relationship with him. Hence, even though Simon gets bullied, his relationship with others it better then Piggy’s, cause the boys just consider him, as a fat, lazy potty mouth just there. Nevertheless, Piggy and Simon are nothing alike in appearance. Piggy is obviously chubby, fat, wears glasses.
Evil henceforth became my good. I was benevolent and good; misery made me a fiend. Even thus victor still through the end of life didn’t acknowledge the monster, but the monster, in fact show some remorse for the loss of his creator. As a baby we all needs to be love and nurture by our parents and love one, imagine victor’s monster he was left alone in a strange world looking very different from others and his feeling of hate overwhelm him and with no direction and home training he became a madman. Victor and the monster represent the failure of humanity.
English – Stream of Consciousness 12/09/2012 Cherry - Monologue Lewis, ah Lewis. The first man since entering this disgusting place that’s actually cared about me. He cares, unlike the others, Zach and Henry are always too drugged to show emotion, Roy only holds feelings for himself and Doug... He’s just a cat burning tyrant! I..I hate him, I hate all of them, but not, not Lewis... Lewis cares. He’s not like the other guys, he won’t hurt me like they did, he wouldn’t put me here... Would he?
The reaction, or the lack of, with Gregors family members to his “ailment” leaves room for the reader to look at his transformation as potentially metaphorical. Almost every character refers to Gregors metamorphosis in an illogical manner, being horrified by his change but soon welcome him as if he suffered a sort of paralysis and houses and feeds him without considering the idea that it may not be Gregor. The normality carried out by the characters throughout this story is in my opinion the darker aspect of this story. As the story progresses from Gregor is immediately faced with the conflict of a human mind and his physical limitations as an insect, from enjoying the sound of his sister’s peaceful violin playing and the different foods humans normally crave to climbing walls and taking
Of Mice and Men The title “Of Mice and Men” is appropriate for this book because in the poem it says “And leave us naught but grief and pain”, and this book will bring you grief and pain at the end. Lennie was a big , not bright fellow. He loved to play with small animals such as mice and puppies etc. George, Lennie’s guider, didn’t like or want Lennie to play with mice cause he know he would kill him with his big hands and try to hide them while they’re dead in his pocket. George had to always look after Lennie because he was always getting into some sort of trouble with things.
In the creatures situation he has no real family, he feels lost and lonely and only seeking human compassion. The problem is that people are too quick to judge the creature. Whenever he tried to make friends it never ended well and people only look at him as a monster. In chapter 16 the creature asks Victor to make him a mate. The creature was very lonely and wanted compassion.
His father abused him violently when he was a child. As a young boy, he was timid and quiet while his father was loud, volatile and domineering. The difference of their personalities led to the detached relationship, also his father viewing him as incapable and repulsive. That’s again, the possible reason Gregor turns into a disgusting bug. Kafka was reflecting the way his father, and in turn himself, viewed him.
Due to circumstances in my life, circumstances I will describe in greater detail below, I had become a hostile and miserable creature with only one goal-- to make others miserable. Simply put, I was the Grinch. Everyone knows the Grinch-- a character popularized by Dr.Seuss who was a horrible, grumpy creature with a heart that was “two sizes too small.” I was thirteen years old when I became the Grinch. Whenever I played games with the other children, I would never smile, but only scowl or frown. Unlike the other kids, I was never eager or curious about trying new things.
The novel Lord of the Flies portrays an imbalance of power between characters, like Jack, Ralph, and Piggy. Throughout the novel, Jack and Ralph are constantly against Piggy because they believe they have a greater sense of authority. Piggy genuinely tries to help and give ideas but is always shut down because of the great imbalance of power between the boys. Jack additionally has no regard for Piggy's entitlement to speak and his tribe feels that anything Piggy says is humorous; they ponder "what amusing thing he may need to say.” Bullies most often tend to pick on the weaker children with poor self esteem or no way of defending themselves, thereby giving themselves more
