Nt1310 Unit 6 Exercise 1

When I installed a connector to a twisted- pair cable I first needed to determine the length of the cable then I cut the cable three inches longer than the length of the cable I needed. I used a wire cutter to cut the cable. Next I had to use a cable stripper to strip the outer jacket off the cable exposing the inner conductors. I then untwisted the inner copper wires and I then separated the wires to line up the individual wires so that the color code matched the color-coding standard for the 568-A standard. After lining up the wires to the standard I then trimmed them so they were even and I made sure the outer jacket was inside the RJ-45 connector. I inserted the wires into the RJ-45 connector so they lined up with the proper pins in the connector. I inserted the cable and the RJ-45 connector into the crimping tool and I ensured that the wires did not slip from the pins. I crimped the RJ-45 connector to the cable and then I repeated these steps for the other end of the cable. The last thing that needed to be done was to test the cable to make sure that the cable worked correctly. When I installed a connector to a coaxial cable I first need to determine the length the cable I needed. I had to use a cable cutter to cut the cable to the exact length I needed. I then put on the crimp-on sleeve onto the cable jacket. The next step was to uses the wire strippers to strip off 5/8 of an inch off the end of the cable. I also trimmed off about 7/32 of an inch of the braided shielding. Next I had to strip off the plastic insulator so that 3/16 of an inch of the wire was exposed. I inserted the wire into the center pin of the connector. I then crimped the pin twice with a ratchet crimper and pushed the connector on the end of the cable. The next thing that I did was to slide the ferrule along the sleeve down the cable so that it pushes the braided shielding around the barrel
