There was no specific profession of nursing before Florence Nightingale started to work in the field of nursing. In the modern world, there is a significant change in the nursing field. There are many nursing educational degrees. Two of them are Baccalaureate degree and Associates degree in nursing. Both baccalaureate degree and associate degree in nursing required to pass NCLEX exam in order to work as a registered nurse. Nurses play an important role in the patient care. In the health care area, the nurses cover more than 50% of employment. Skilled and educational nurses are very dedicated in patient care. Legal and ethical responsibility of the care provided is also increasingly shared by the nurses. Nurses are the leaders of care team group. It is very important to train skilled and efficient nurses for the society. The more the education level goes up, patients will get better outcome. Comparison Both baccalaureate degree and associate degree in nursing play an important role in patient care but in two different ways. The associate nurses are practically very involved with patient bed side care. The associate nurses administer medications, do the treatment and very involved with discharge teaching. The baccalaureate degree nurses will go deeper in patient education and care plans. Baccalaureate degree nurse (BSN): a nurse with a four year academic degree offered from senior colleges and universities that include general education requirements along with courses that provide a broad liberal arts background in addition to clinical nursing courses (Gooding, 2005).
