Personal Narrative: The Intervention

The intervention helped me realize that my life had become unmanageable and that I was uncapable of doing anything about it. I had been using drugs for quite a while and couldn’t stop, I was unemployed and homeless without a clue about where my life was heading and I was sad so much so that not even a bright sunny day at the beach could lift my spirits. But there was hope for me at last. I if I keep doing the same thing I’m gonna keep getting the same results and if I want to get better I have to be willing to take a chance and step out of what I know. In august of 2010 I was working at a Fine dining Mexican restaurant in Washington d.c I was 21. it was great at first but as time past things began to go downhill. My dad lived in cancun and I knew and from working there one time I knew a guy who liked to party and asked him if I could kick it at his place for a few day while I found a place of my own. He said yes. I told no one exept and old girlfriend I had when I was 17 just incase I ended up missing, mexico had a bad reputation for violence and kidnaping. I arrived in cancun in mid January of 2011. My friend and I had a good time, we went out we had fun until about day three when we were at a grociery store and I forgot my debit card in an atm and could no longer acces my money in the U.S. I called my mom from a pay phone to ask her for money, but she had none. when she asked why i was calling her from a Mexican phone I told her I was at a friends wedding in cancun on vacation. She knows me and cought on right away, she called my old work and found out I was no longer employed by them. I gave her Marcos’ phone number so she could reach me. She called the following morning crying worried sick asking me questions, I didn’t want to talk to her it was a sunny day and I wanted to go to the beach and that’s what I told her before I hung
