Lisa Blake Uche Chibeuze, Psy/210 September 5, 2010 *What are the causes of stress in Jennifer’s life? How is stress affecting Jennifer’s health? There appears to be many people, things, and situations causing Jennifer stress and affecting her health. I believe trying to be everything will drive you crazy and Jennifer is trying to tackle an administrative assistant job, a wife, a soon to be mother, and a daughter and daughter-in-law, and be the best at everything, but it is killing her. Jennifer’s daily hassles are breaking her body down and making her sick. I also believe Jennifer had her miscarriage due to her hectic schedule and stress. Jennifer runs a tight ship and work, and she is organized enough to prepare lists, so the work is done right. I believe it takes a strong woman with a good self-concept to be an administrative assistant, and take care of an entire family, but I also believe stress is taking a toll on Jennifer’s body and her mind. I find it hard commuting back and forth to work, so I understand Jennifer has severe frustrations. Maybe Jennifer believes she has to do everything for everyone for people to love her, because everyone probably can’t believe how much she can do in one day. They might even call her “Superwoman”, but that is just a television show, and not reality. In reality we try to be and do everything; we show off, then we get stressed, sick, and eventually our body can’t take the abuse and we collapse like a ton of bricks. Everything is affected when we become stressed; including our self-concept and our self-esteem. As woman we feel we have to take care of everyone and then complain when we can’t do it anymore. I believe taking care of people we love is part of a woman’s self-esteem and self-concept, and when we can’t keep up with everything we feel less than…show more content…
I feel Jennifer and her family do not have good communication. I understand that Jennifer is grown and she is trying to do it all, but she really needs to express her feelings to her family. I also believe her family should start asking her if she needs help, or ask her how she feels. I find it very sad that Jennifer’s husband does not at least try to help with the housework, or pay for a maid. Financially I think Jennifer and her husband are doing great. I believe if Jennifer would maybe cut her hours at work that she could start a family together. I also feel this would help Jennifer and her stress level. This is a huge decision that Jennifer and her husband would have to make together, but I don’t believe with Jennifer’s schedule that they would be able to throw a baby in the middle of Jennifer’s life. If Jennifer’s husband would want to cut his hours that would be great, but something has to give at this point. I wonder if Jennifer’s husband is just too laid back for Jennifer and she needs a man who is more assertive, because Jennifer is taking everything on herself and her husband is letting it
