Small World ensures safety, love, and quality care in every aspect of childcare and security/privacy is nothing short of just that! I would also like to comment on a recent observation I made with “Kayleigh” an ABC Teacher with an ECE masters degree at Small World. Kayleigh has a very bubbly, outgoing, and motivated personality. She works hard to ensure love is given to each individual child. She always greets the parents with the children in the morning using puppets, or any form of communication that is available at the particular time.
“A Minnesota teacher of seventh and ninth grades says that she has to spend extra time in class editing papers and must 'explicitly' remind her students that is is not acceptable to use text slang and abbreviations in writing” (Cullington 89). Also, “many complain that because texting does not stress the importance of punctuation, students are neglecting it in their formal writing” (Cullington 89). These points are valid, but the evidence is limited because it is based on a few personal experiences, rather then a large study with much more research.
Anisha Spellman Benchmark Assessment: Language Arts Unit Plan Grand Canyon University: EED-525 November 27, 2013 “Learning to read and reading to learn” is a quote that one of the schools in my district uses to help motivate reading in all students and their families. I believe reading is an important aspect of all lives. What exactly would the world be like without the reading? It is crucial that we teach this to all of the little children while they are young and trying to learn. The more they practice and the more teachers and parents instill this in their minds, the better they will become.
Before this interview, I defined a school counselor as someone who provides guidance to help with the development of a child academically and socially. However, I learned this is still their philosophy but their duities have changed. As I interviewed, Ms. Childs a counselor from the Cypress-Fairbanks school district, I truly understood the difference between the role of a counselor and their duties. She has wanted to be a counselor since the third grade. She had an excellent elementary school counselor and always remembered her as being the nicest person on campus.
Ms. Smith encourages interaction when students fail to pickup graded homework assignments and need to ask for them after class. This practice helps provide an opportunity for Ms. Smith to interact with the student regarding their homework. Ms. Smith encourages feedback by promoting students with the use of an appeal process when they believe a mistake has been made on their homework. In a second grade class, Ms. Smith’s homework policy would not be developmentally appropriate in its entirety. Verbally explaining and sending home copies of a homework policy would be appropriate for a second grade class.
She states multiple times that the children within the education system are being cheated every day because they are not being forced to read more difficult books. “Such benefits are denied to the young reader exposed only to books with banal, simple-minded moral equations as well as to the student encouraged to come up with reductive, wrong-headed readings of mulitlayered texts” (Prose 97). The reader can blatantly see that Prose thinks negatively of the high school curriculum that today's students face. It seems clear that Prose does not want to hide her personal view or feelings, so she starts her essay out in a way that we do not have to read between the lines to get a sense of how she feels about what she is writing. She uses more emotional language when she says, "The intense loyalty adults harbor for books first encountered in youth is one probable reason for the otherwise baffling longevity of vintage mediocre novels, books that teachers may themselves have read in adolescence"(Prose
Another way that this homework policy helps promote positive social interaction inside a second grade classroom is when graded assignments not picked up within two days should be discussed with the teacher. This discussion allows the student to explain the reason why the homework was not picked up and provide valuable opinions as to how this problem can be prevented in the future. A2. Self-Motivation The homework policy also includes that students buy a day planner and use class time learning how to use it. The use of the day planner promotes self-motivation because the students are learning how to manage their time in school and at home to be able to complete their homework.
Attendance will be taken at each class and will be used for student monitoring. You should treat class like your job; if you miss work you call your supervisor. If you will be absent for more than one class then you should call or e-mail me. I drop the lowest quiz. If you are going to miss a quiz, have a legitimate reason, and can make the quiz up in the testing center before the next class, then contact me before the end of the class by email or voicemail.
It was only when I finally entered college that I realized I had always loved working with, and the idea of taking care of children; and what I truly wanted to do with the rest of my life was to teach children with mental disabilities. My career goal, which I have slowly been working towards throughout my 2 years in college, is to become a special education teacher for elementary students. I am currently signed up as double major in elementary and early childhood education and psychology in Queens College. I have taken many pre-requisite classes, as well as several courses specifically designed for elementary education. These courses allowed me to be taught by actual elementary school teachers, who have years of experience with working with children, and the knowledge and advice they were able to pass on truly helped me better understand what I was signing up for as an education major, and helped my improve the way I teach so that I could articulate in a way that would be comprehensible to students of a young age.
Zora’s mother and other women even had an influence by directing the Christian curricula at their Sunday schools. Growing up Zora saw that see could do great things even though her skin was a different color and was encouraged by her parents in more ways then they will know to her. You can see that being an inspiration to others comes naturally to
