In my work setting there are a number of legislations and regulations which influence my working relationship with carers, families and significant others. My organisation has clear and concise policies and procedures which all employees are expected to adhere to. These dictate our individual roles and responsibilities and accountability for me when leading others and also when managing working with the individuals family.
My role as a carer requires following the policies and procedures and code of practice. It makes me responsible for every task I undertake therefore I must be always sure that I’m trained enough and physically able to provide professional service to my service users. Be able to work in ways that are agreed with the employer 2.1 Describe why is it important to adhere to the agreed scope of the job role - In my working relationship, I agree to follow: A. Job Description: it outlines the responsibilities, duties, to which I am responsible, including working hours and rates of pay. B. Policies: it gives a broad outline for the way people should work and identifies the boundaries, and will often relate to laws. C. Procedures: it goes alongside policies and explains in detail how to perform day-to-day activities.
Employers have to ensure that everyone who works for them is registered and eligible to work in social care. - Standards and codes of practice will vary depending on the UK country in which you work. Each UK country has National Minimum Standards (-these are used by the Commission for social Care Inspection to inspect the quality of care in services.) that are used by inspectors to ensure that services are being delivered at an acceptable level. Working as part of a team, sharing information with other team members, key workers and keeping employers informed of any issues is paramount, keeping accurate records in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Gavami Walden University Dr. Miriam Ross Academic and Professional Goals Currently, I make positive societal change with one patient at a time by showing genuine care and understanding of how they are different with different needs. This is one reason of several that I chose Walden University, since Walden has a keen awareness and teaching on multicultural competence, I find this to be Paramount. Managers in today’s healthcare environment are much more involved in management, planning, cost containment and efficiency, while providing a better work environment for the hospital staff, and better care for the patients and their family. The skills I expect to gain through getting my master’s with Walden University should give me the ability to recognize and understand problems we face on daily bases in the healthcare system. With this knowledge I plan to work toward a more cost effective and delivery system with healthcare provided to the patient population.
One form of this communication is a verbal handover at the beginning and end of each shift, there is also the filling in of relevant communication books and care plans for each of the individuals you care for, this keeps others in the knowledge of the current situation in the work place with service users.
