Administrative Medical Assistant Skills Human skills that a good Administrative Medical Assistant needs to have are people skills, planning activities and typing. Knowing these skills will help in everyday life. Planning of activities within the medical office is important for the MAA. And empowerment can help you deal with your colleagues in the medical office more effectively. People skills, planning activities and typing are the human skills a good Administrative Medical Assistant should possess. People skills will help with communication. Communication is important because you will be dealing with patients every day. It will help when you have an anger or upset patient. You will know how to calm them down. And not get anger. Planning activities are important because you have to answer the phone, greet patients and visitors, and order supplies every day. Typing is important too. You will be typing a lot because you will have to scheduling patient’s appointment, maintain patient’s medical records, processing insurance forms, and cording lab services. Having these human skills can make your day go smoother. You will be dealing will patients every day. You will have patients calling about something and sometime they get mad and anger. Then they take it out on the administrative medical assistant that took the call. In situations like this one knowing how to communicate with angry patient can help calm the patient down and make the situation better. Planning of activities within the medical office is important for the Administrative Medical Assistant. MAA have to do duties that are related to the healthcare industry. These duties may include answering the phone, ordering supplies, or greeting patients and visitors. You will have to have some specialized knowledge to do some of the duties.
