Currently it has not been possible to define the specific meaning of abnormal behavior. Being that there are so many different aspects of abnormal behavior there may not ever be one. What seems to be abnormal behavior to one may be considered normal to someone else. Unfortunately, for psychologists, it’s not always as clear cut and easy as other professions. In fact, diagnosing a psychologically abnormal individual can be somewhat subjective since no complete and total agreement has ever been reached on the definition of “abnormal behavior”.
It isn’t supported by the effectiveness of drugs which show that abnormality may have a physiological cause. The
This explains that the biological explanation should not call the DRD2 the reward gene because people with autism have the gene too and they do not get addicted. We cannot establish a cause and effect because we don’t know whether addiction causes the A1 variant or whether addiction is the effect of the A1 variant. This states that in biological explanations we cannot draw a cause and effect in
I have worked with youngsters and adults with ADHD and find it astounding that in certain cases little is known by families, carers and the individuals about this disorder. Is this in light of the fact that resources are lacking, or on the grounds that opinions are divided on the condition itself? Alison Munden (1999) remarked that numerous families come to become despondent, on the grounds that their endeavours to find either a explanation for ADHD or a cure have been unsuccessful. I will begin with a brief look at the common treatments for ADHD followed by a literature review exploration of the choice of ADHD treatments. There are a lot of conflicting views and opinions for the treatment of ADHD I will look at four types or “treatments”
Were being an addict and having a mental illness both full under a medical problem. The reason being is that an addict is going to need help to be able to kick their addiction. The biggest issue to look at is that surveys show that some people are ashamed to admit that they know someone in their family that has an addiction problem. And if you are ashamed or scared to admit the problem then maybe this paper will help with that shame. Because if you are ashamed to admit the problem then the person can not get the help they need.
System Theory Anna Meece Eastern Kentucky University Introduction My At-Risk population is the children in foster care but not only are they in foster care these are the children that nobody wants. The boys and girls are older ages are harder to adopt because not many people want to take them. The only reason they get out of the system is by aging out of on rare occasions of going home, but that’s doesn’t happen often .They are an At-Risk population because there are so many of them right not in the system that it is getting to be an epidemic. Too many are going in and not enough are coming out. Sure they get placed in a very loving foster home but that foster home is not a pre adaptive one so they don’t get to know what a forever family
My family disagreed. My family thought that kids should be allowed to be kids. The result was me getting kicked out of the school that I was attending. When are teachers and doctors going to realize that kids don’t need these drugs? I think too many doctors are prescribing drugs to children who don’t necessarily need these prescriptions.
With as difficult as it is to establish a definitive diagnosis when dealing with mental illness in adults, it is just as, if not more so, difficult in children. Some of the signs or symptoms of some of these conditions are very similar to the way young children act normally. In the situation with Jacob Solomon, it seemed as if the doctors really didn't know what they were dealing with and to me it almost appeared that the original medications he was placed on either made his condition worse or possibly caused new conditions or
Is Ritalin Over Prescribed Children that have ADHD have an imagination that puts others to shame, but nothing seems to hold their attention for more than five minutes. If they were recently diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or what we call ADHD. This scene is all too familiar for parents who discover that their child has a, learning disorder as they progress from elementary school through their college years. All to often in today's society we want a "quick fix" to remedy our problems. As more and more family doctors these days are frequently under pressure, usually from parents, teachers and social workers: who know nothing about drug therapy; and probably understand nothing about the way the international
