True love is worth dying for, according to Romeo and Juliet. In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the young couple falls in love. Juliet is a Capulet, Romeo is a Montague, and the families are sworn enemies. In the end they both commit suicide because they can’t be with each other. The main causes of Romeo and Juliet’s death are the friar, their own emotions, and their feuding families.
Echo is a good illustration that shows how selfish Narcissus was. Echo’s love for Narcissus was as much as she loved talking. Narcissus got angry when Echo expressed her love for Narcissus by hugging him and he told her, “ I would rather die than you should have me!” and threw Echo away. I believe he did not need to express his anger, and hatred to Echo. Because of him, Echo was ashamed of her action, and she ran away to live in the mountain longing for a love that never be returned.
Human Imperfection Romeo and Juliet are one of the greatest examples of young love. They fell in love at first sight, but their family feud wouldn’t let them be together. Romeo and Juliet went to extremes to be together, and they found their only option to be death. It’s very plain and simple, Capulets and Montagues just hate one another. There is no real reason why they hate one another, other than having a different last name.
The demise of Romeo and Juliet was caused by their youth and inexperience, interference by adults, and most of all by fate and chance. The youth and inexperience of both Romeo and Juliet became a factor in their deaths. One of the most common mistakes made by Romeo and who he fell in love with. At the start of the play he was in love with another young Capulet women, Rosaline, then fell in love with Juliet. As said by Friar Lawrence on his love, “Is Rosaline, whom thou didst love so dear, So soon forsaken?
As Guigemar realizes he loves the woman, he suffers more than he ever did from the physical pain of the arrow. This is evident during Guigemar’s lonesome nights when he declares, “If she refuses my request and is arrogant or harsh, then I must die of grief and languish forever from this ill” (Lais de Marie De France, Guigemar 48). Guigemar chooses to suffer for his love, rather than burden the married woman who might not reciprocate until the servant ultimately intervenes and brings the two lovers together. In contrast to Guigemar’s selflessness, the woman’s husband represents selfish love. By practically imprisoning his wife and demeaning her to a piece of property, he denies her simple rights to life and happiness.
Romeo was still heartbroken by Rosaline and Juliet thought she would marry no one she liked in the least bit at all. In Act 1 Scene 4 Romeo says “I have a soul of lead, so stakes me to the ground I will never move.” He says this out of sadness of not being able to marry Rosaline. This was literally a few moments before Romeo sees Juliet for the first time. It supports that Romeo was vulnerable to love as he was stricken with sadness resulting in his attraction to Juliet merely to distract himself, not out of true love. As for Juliet, she was vulnerable as well as she wanted to choose any man other than Paris to marry.
That is how impulsive Romeo is in the in William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Romeo impulsive from the start of the book. In act 1 scene 1-4 Romeo is depressed because Rosaline, the girl he likes, has vowed never to be in love and get married. Then he gets really depressed and thinks she is the only girl he will ever love. When his cousin Benvolio asks if he is “In love” Romeo says that he is “Out—“ “of love”(1.1, 170-173).
It is interesting that Olfelia will be able to exist in a world where time does not matter; because this is something the Captain desires so much. He wants his family name to live on forever, and the only way that he could achieve this goal is by fathering a son; to the Captain, his son is the only way he can defy mortality. In fact he does not even question that his wife might be carrying a girl. When Carmen first came to see the Captain, he felt her belly and confidently believed that it would be a boy. It is clear that he does not even care for his wife’s health; she is just a mediator between him and his son, who he could pass on the inheritance and his name to.
Kris Lucas Mr. McClain Shakespeare, Period 3 February 3, 2012 ****** The feud between the Montagues and the Capulets drives Mercutio, Tybalt, Romeo, and Juliet to think irrationally and make mistakes that lead to their deaths. Romeo and Juliet are young and blindly fall in love because of one another’s physical attractiveness. Mercutio and Tybalt hate each other because of an age-old family feud, which they do not know the cause of. Romeo and Juliet’s Love cannot exist because of the hate between their families, so they act irrationally and end up dead; Likewise, Mercutio and Tybalt are driven to hate one another for their families and also die as a result of the hate. Rome and Juliet’s relationship is one sided and based on appearances.
They hold all qualities of tragic heroes, It may seem like they are just star-crossed lovers who die because of their families war but there’s much more to it. Throughout the story Romeo shows many flaws. He is very impulsive and doesn’t make the wisest decisions. For example killing Tybalt, he says in Act 3, scene 1 on page 125, Romeo quickly regrets his decision and says “O, I am fortune’s fool!”. He means that fate has made a fool of him.
