So many wars could have been avoided if we could all just stick together. We all live on the same planet there is no reason whatsoever, why we cant come to a mutual agreement every time something isn’t right. More than half civil wars have started due to failed peace
“work without hope draws nectar in a sieve.” This means that work needs a motivation or hope. Otherwise no one would work. “Hope without an objective cannot live.” This means that hope can only survive if it has something to return and hope needs a person, otherwise hope wouldnt exist. In the story, Irawaddy has no hope because she cannot produce any sons, she stops working or doing anything. As soon as Kuti arrives, Ira starts treating the baby as if it were her own child.
He says with a sad smile he missed his child’s first words. The war was his life then and it consumed him, but his heart was always somewhere else. John admits “I was scared that I would never come home and I would never get the chance to hold my baby in my arms and kiss my wife’s pretty face.” After the war was over though, John returned safely to Eleanore and Carol. It was not as difficult for him to adjust after being away for so long, mainly because he had a wife that loved him and a family to provide for. There wasn’t any time, he states, to feel sorry for him or think about what war was for him.
Both characters had become isolated from society, and really did not know that they needed people to support them, until someone else put in the effort to connect with them. Alex lays out the thought process of most people in that scene. Everybody wants help and advice, but would never go questing for it. When someone takes control and attempts to make one’s life better, it will undoubtedly make them
Unkle Billy escaped his direct fate by dooming the others and it is never let known to the reader if he becomes happy later on in his life, though it is doubted by his cynical and untrustworthy nature; he would probably never let himself be happy by always fearing the world around him. Oakhurst and the Duchess both had more life to look forward to and so far they had been living life on their terms, even if it wasn’t the optimal way to live. The Innocent and Piney had each other and had run away to fulfil their lives of happiness together. Mother Shipton was the only one in the confining cabin that didn’t have something specific to look forward to after the mountains, yet she had been living her life the way she choose before the exile. Society had thrown out Oakhurst, Duchess and Mother Shipton for them being themselves; by living their successes they were condemned.
A linear economy system means that it is an open system which would continue its process in a forward direction without turning back. A finite planet is a planet that can’t neither expand nor contract; it stays in the same shape. When we operate a linear economy system into a finite planet, we would eventually use all the natural resources provided in the earth and we would trash them when we don’t need them or we can’t use them
We feel that they did not get to live out their life or experience more, to live out their life goals, to have families, to travel, and to make their life. Our society believes that it is only acceptable when the elderly pass away because they have already lived their life. This poem makes you think the opposite that one should die as soon as they accomplish something great so that they will be remembered. For example, a young man can hit a home run and win the championship game for his team. He can get hit by a car on his way home, but others should not be sad but rejoice that he died after an accomplishment that he is proud
In a perfect utopia there wouldn’t be anything to live for if everything is handed to you on a silver platter. “There is nothing left to struggle for” (George 115) was said by one character in the book. There would be “too many distractions and entertainments” (George 115) to actually live for, which is why people are rebelling. These remarks show that people don’t want to live in a perfect utopia but they want to live in a world that they can feel alive in and actually do something with their lives. This is why their rebellion is kept a secret because if the Overlords were to find out what they were doing, then those people would be dead.
There will never be a thing called privacy. Singer concludes by stating “the world before Wikileaks and Facebook may have seemed a more secure place, but to say whether it was a better world is much more difficult”. (36) Therefore, there is no privacy anymore because we need to know and want to know about the world, and know if life would improve if secret
