Economic Issues Stimulation Paper June 10, 2012 Constructit Company The chosen company for this analysis is Constructit company. Constructit consist of 1000 employees who are willing to pay out of pockets premiums up to $4000 per year. Castor Collins insurance is looking to increase the number of enrolled members covered under their health insurance plan. Since Constructit does not have an existing employer plan and Castor Collins uses a capitation model to pay for services rendered to their clients, Castor Collins can design a health insurance plan for the employees of Constructit that would utilize the entire $4000 bringing more members to Castor Collins and guaranteeing them at least an additional $40,000 in revenue per year.…show more content…
This would means that Castor Collins can design a health insurance plan that will include coverage for spouses and children. There are 550 men and 450 women between the ages of 26 thru 42 that are employed at Constructit. Therefore Castor Collins can be assured that they may not have a high expense of long term care for the employees of this company since they are not in the pending retirement age group. More than half of the employees of Constructit job involves some kind of physical activity, while the rest of the employees work requires them to be at a desk. A lot of the absences at Constructit are due to injuries and this means that there could be a higher percentage of possible work accidents since there is physical activity involved. However, Castor Collins also must be reminded that many on the job injuries are not paid through personal health insurance but through Injured Workers Insurance. 91 employees of Constructit are smokers, which is less than ten percent of the entire employee population. Therefore, the possibility of incurring extra cost for future health issues related to smokers is not a big risk factor. The biggest risk for Castor Collins in insuring the employees of Constructit would probably come from self induced health problems related to smoking and obesity. Obesity is considered a risk factor for the employees of Constructit because nearly 40% of them are classified as obese. This mean that Castor Collins would be paying for diagnosis and treatments for illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, or heart
