In today's society, it is very uncommon to find someone who isn't the owner of a smartphone. One can go on a journey through the past in order to find those first few devices that did more than just call in order to connect us with one another, but it is no doubt that smartphones took the world by storm during the mid-2000's. Companies such as Apple and Samsung have set the bar high with what to expect when purchasing a smartphone, with both their devices, the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S4, respectably. Both devices have state-of-the-art technology, making them very desirable amongst the majority of the population. Although both of these smartphones serve the same purpose, to make the owners life as hassle free as possible, both phones work very differently.
“In a comparison with Mac OS X Mountain Lion, Windows 8 started up faster. And it's not just startup time: Windows 8 ran several benchmark performance tests quicker than either Windows 7 or Mountain Lion” (Muchmore, 2013). A few other benefits of the Windows 8 operating system include the Windows 8 exclusivity of apps, which can be utilized through the touch-screen feature of the computer, new online storage, and better security. In comparison, the Mac’s OS X Mountain Lion processor does possess a few of the same benefits such as improved security and online storage, however when it comes to having the latest technology, I believe that the Windows 8 definitely wins. Hard Disk Capacity and Random Access Memory Both computers possess the same hard disk capacity of 1TB (terabyte), which is a decent amount of storage for someone who will be utilizing their computer for school and personal use.

The rules of marketing may have changed but it definitely does not mean that IM is the only answer for marketers. For a company like HubSpot, whose products appeal to a certain type of customer, specifically people who are familiar with 2.0 and know what product they are looking for, IM is effective because potential customers are already familiar with the platform and are shopping around. IM is also good because it is cheaper and provides very informative details on the company’s products. However, if a business only offers products which appeal to older or specific customers who are not familiar with web 2.0, IM will not work. One example of a business where IM will not work is a business that that sells electric wheelchair.
It has made the world smaller and more connected than at any point in history, especially with the invention of iPads, iPhones, computers, and mobile devices. A disadvantage of easily obtainable information is whether the information is actually credible or not. Many people look for information on the Internet giving no thought as to whether the information is actually trustworthy or not. There are some sites that look like they have correct information yet they may not be affiliated with certain groups or entities that endorse the copy or the information that the site contains. Problem: Best buy faces a lack of competitor advantage against the virtual retailers which is perhaps the leading cause of decline for them. Although the company currently operates in thousands of locations, electronic big box stores are becoming obsolete due to the cheaper, faster, more convenient and less expensive products that can be purchased from an online retailer. In addition, virtual retailers “don’t need to own and operate expensive real estate or staff their stores even when there are few customers around, or maintain inventories for display purpose.” In contrast, retailers may still hold an upper hand on certain products that consumers require to see and hear in person and to acquire the knowledge of an experienced expert. The large amount of products at Best Buy allow the consumer to do their research in the store but in-turn purchase them at a lower cost online. Alternative Solutions: There are three strategies Best buy can use to potentially increase revenue and decrease the current disadvantages.
Google wants to establish itself as a media giant yet most of products that are branded with the Google name are software driven. Furthermore, Google does not participate in a campaign that enhances the brand. eBay, Amazon, Apple and even Bing utilize brand advertising to reach out to a specific target audience. John Battelle (2012) answered a question from a report on brand advertising by suggesting that Google doesn’t need to do brand advertising, because Google’s service *is* the brand builder. But today, my answer is quite different: Google isn’t doing brand advertising because Google doesn’t know what its brand means (Battelle, 2012).
This suggests that the short-term store does not use acoustic processing, but visual. The model suggests rehearsal helps to transfer information into LTM but this is not essential. It does not explain why we able to recall information which we did not rehearse (e.g. gossip from a celebrity magazine) yet unable to recall information which we have rehearsed (e.g. reading your notes while revising).
