Rodrigo Cubedo WRT 101 December 4th, 2012 College: Is It Really Necessary? Go to college, get a degree, and find a well paying job. Everybody should be doing this, right? According to Charles Murray apparently not. Murray presented his book “Real Education: Four Simple Truths for Bringing America’s Schools Back to Reality.” (2008) Where he talks about his point of view on higher education; he doesn’t believe it is something everybody should be doing, since not everybody is prepared to attend college and struggle with all that is involved in the process of getting a B.A. Murray, although presenting interesting facts, might or might not be right, because education and success aren’t correlated in their totality. He believes not everyone should go to college to pursue a major just because they want to make a lot of money. Murray states something that it is true, ‘Young people with okay-but-not-great academic ability who are thinking about whether to go after a B.A. need to consider the competition they will face after they graduate.’(Murray,2008). If all people want to get into the business, finance, and/or management world once graduated they might have a rough time. There are certain skills needed to be successful, even when giving orders to other people. So, thinking that being a corporation manager will provide us with a bigger income than working in an area where we know we are good at, might not be the correct way of thinking it…show more content…
