It will give me ideas of what can be used as a con regarding medical marijuana. In this article, the author speaks about California, Arizona, and several other states have recently legalized medical marijuana. He also states clearly what his goal is. That goal is to demonstrate that even if one grants the opponents of legalization many of their contentious assumptions, the federal government is still obligated to take several specific steps toward the legalization of medical marijuana. He defends this claim against a variety of objections, including the claims: that marijuana is unsafe, that marijuana cannot be adequately tested or produced as a drug, that the availability of synthetic THC makes marijuana superfluous, and especially that legalizing medical marijuana will increase recreational use by 'sending the wrong message.'
Persuasive Research Paper: Medical Marijuana Persuasive Research Paper: Medical Marijuana Thesis: Medicinal marijuana needs to be legalized because it is overall less harmful to the human anatomy than prescription medicine, therefore it should be legalized and regulated in the same manner as prescription drugs. For many decades, Cannabis has been regarded as one of the means for committing felony of individuals in the society. The different part of the Cannabis plant, such as its stems, buds, and leaves, undergo a process of preparation, to produce marijuana. When inhaled, marijuana produces a number of negative effects in the biological system of the user, such as distorted perceptions or hallucinations, increased heart
Running head: Self Assessment/Reflective Memo Strayer University Gordon McQuaige English 115 Dr. Brandy T. Wilson February 20, 2011 Pre-Writing/ Invention Process I used the brainstorming / listing invention process. I did find this strategy effective but it was hard to focus on one individual subject that I could inform my audience with. I guess my main problem was to focus on one particular subject because I had many thoughts going thru my head. I learned that I should try more prewriting strategies to find the one that will give me what it is that I need instead of staying focused on the one that is not working well for me.
Pharmaceutics researchers should take marijuana more seriously as a source of new treatments, especially in the field of AIDS research, where promising treatments are few and far between. It is difficult, considering the reputation of marijuana as a recreational drug, for the medical community to take it seriously as a subject of research. But for millions of patients suffering from glaucoma, it is one of the most promising treatments for inter-ocular pressure, and as such should be treated like any other substance under scrutiny as a viable
[Type the company name] | Medical Marijuana | Kimberly Conner | Class # and nameTeachers name | | 12/5/2012 | This is just my rough draft. Still needed some work done but you get the point! | Medical Marijuana is a big debate these days and whether or not it should be decriminalized. In this paper there will be some pros and cons and then I (the writer) will tell my stand points on this subject at hand. This paper will tell you pros such as why we should decriminalized medical marijuana and the reasons it would be useful to people.
“The Institute of Medicine panel concluded that marijuana has some therapeutic value for pain relief, control of nausea and vomiting, and appetite stimulation, and should be studied further in order to develop new cannabinoid drugs. It also concluded that marijuana has limited effectiveness in relieving the symptoms of glaucoma. No evidence was found that marijuana acts as a gateway drug to more dangerous recreational drugs.” (Levy, 1999) Living with HIV/AIDS can be extremely difficult and very painful. You lose the desire to do anything you stop eating, you get depressed, you are nauseous all the time. “Despite the limited amount of data available on the use of medicinal marijuana in the general population, it has been suggested that persons with HIV/AIDS are the largest group of medicinal marijuana users in both Canada and the United States.” (Furler, Einarson, Millson, Walmsley, Bendayan, 2004) While this may be true there are other minor diseases out there with the same symptoms so why should it be so hard for them to get medicinal marijuana?
ENG.110: Rhetorical Compare and Contrast 25/02/2012 Evidence or Empirical Knowledge Its time to get rid of some of the haze and befuddled ideas surrounding medical marijuana and get down to some clear, logical thinking. According to the Harvard Mental Health Letter, "Medical Marijuana and the Mind" the movement to legalize medical marijuana needs more research scientifically about how the drug affects the brain and whether it might be useful in treating psychiatric disorders. This publication by the Harvard Medical School states that their is not enough evidence to recommend medical marijuana as a treatment for any psychiatric disorder. On the other hand, Dr. Rick Bayer's article "Physicians' Perspective Medical Cannabis Update: Smokeless Marijuana" most Americans support marijuana, if used medically, and want ways to not smoke the plant because of the cancer causing carcinogens in the smoke itself. Bayer's theory is that the smokeless ways are more cost efficient or will be once more Americans are accepting of medical marijuana.
I mean that sometimes I like to make claims without backing them up. This class has helped me to really investigate my claims so I can project them with confidence and greater persuasive power. Without writing an actual paper, it is good to have facts to back up personal claims. This gives the person great ethos. All in all, I know that this class will help me in my career in the long run because it has showed me what the power of language can do.
It has been a misconception that reading a text book is the best way to learn a subject. Sure lots of knowledge can be gained by reading a text book but sometimes experimenting and implementing your own thoughts can speed up the learning process. “Einstein believed that even though you should be literate and educate yourself, you should still take time to experiment and have independent thought. He felt that only learning by what was in a book would lead to not having any new thoughts or ideas” (qtd. in WikiAnswers.com) I am a computer science major and have to deal with logical statements a lot.
Marijuana, Long Overdue Decriminalization The legalization of marijuana is long overdue, it is necessary for the federal government to invest in scientific research and decriminalize it. There is an ongoing contradictory dilemma whether it can be used as medicine and be therapeutic. The controversy of whether marijuana can be used medically has been a political issue more than scientific. Alcohol and tobacco has proven to be more dangerous than marijuana. Because there is evidence supporting that marijuana has benefits for medical purposes and there is no real support that it is fatal, marijuana should be legalized and distributed through a controlled market; thus helping to resolve ongoing issues both medically and politically.
