Essay On Ultrasonography

CONCLUSION AND FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS For more than two decades, ultrasonography has been considered as one of the most powerful techniques for imaging organs and soft tissue structures in the human body. Today, it is being used at an ever-increasing rate in the field of medical diagnostic technology and it is estimated that one out of every four medical diagnostic image studies in the world involves ultrasonic techniques. However, the usefulness of this imaging modality is degraded by granular structure called speckle, which is multiplicative in nature. Thus, the speckle reduction is mainly focused for improving the human interpretation and to improve the speed and accuracy of automatic and semi automatic image processing tasks. In this work, four diffusion based…show more content…
This resolution enhancement can be done through multiscale approach. The image pyramid 133 offers a flexible and convenient multi-resolution format that mirrors the multiple scales of processing in the human visual system. In the first model, the coupled PDE is applied in Laplacian pyramid domain and is referred Laplacian pyramid based permutated diffusion (LPPD). In this model an image is transformed into its Laplacian pyramid domain, and the pyramid coefficients are manipulated by regularized permutated diffusion, finally, an image is reconstructed from the diffused Laplacian pyramid. The LPPD method is mainly focused on producing simplified ultrasound images for subsequent computer-assisted image analysis such as automatic or semiautomatic segmentation and registration, although it can also provide a visual diagnostic aid for clinicians to interpret ultrasound images. In the second model, dual objective energy functional is utilized to emphasize the point and linear features and this model incorporates two terms: a diffusion term and a regulator term. The anisotropic diffusion preserves and enhances edges and local details. The regularization enables
