Leadership, while a varied and multifaceted concept, shares characteristics across all situations regardless of the business or the people involved. In all instances, leadership involves the ability to influence, inspire, and support others to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of their respective organizations (Miner, 2002). As leadership roles require different types of people in different forms in different organizations, studying the similarities and differences between leadership approaches may help aspiring leaders find the model that best fits personal and organizational goals. Leaders must give employees an idea of the market forces at work today and the responsibility all employees must take in shaping the future (Heifetz & Laurie, 2003). Following is a brief overview of four leadership models: Level 5 Leadership, Results-Focused Leadership, Contingency Theory, and Servant Leadership.

Interest Groups as defined by SprakNotes (2010) are “organization’s of people who share a common interest and work together to protect and promote that interest by influencing the government”. They also vary greatly in size, aims and tactics but generally have either Economic or Noneconomic goals. This aside they both share the same core ideas and reasons for their existence and these are to make sure the “government remains responsive to the communities in which they serve” (Acker, V. Et al 2013). In knowing this, the purpose of this essay is to critically analyze the affects Interest Groups have on the society in which they operate and brings to attention the main positive and negative roles caused through their application such as the theory of Pluralism and its flaws, Hyperpluralism, and other roles in which they benefit or disadvantage society in general. This essay will argue that there is no one side when looking at the effects of interest groups and that the society in which they operate will continually feel both the positive and negative results of their activities.
Technological factors refer to the usefulness and need to acquire and use more user friendly equipment, including computers, software, etc. Lastly, political and professionals factors are concerned mainly with the laws and regulations, federal, state, and local as well as those created by the community. In addition to the four external environmental factors, there are six internal environmental factors that identify the significant components of an organization; these six factors being: corporate authority and mission, leadership style, organizational and program structure, programs and services, personnel policies, and technical resources. As important as all of these factors are, both external and internal, economic factors and corporate authority and mission are the most important to the success of a human service organizations. In order for a human service organization to be successful, they need available funding as well as placement in an area that can afford and support their services.

Communicating effectively means being diverse and looking at every situation from an ethical point of view, especially when the situation deals with different cultures, and intercultural communication comes into play. The importance of understanding the opportunities and challengers of intercultural communication are crucial in order to communicate effectively throughout cultures. Messages sent and received between two or more cultures are subject to misinterpretation, stereotype, or cultural biases. Culture tends to influence almost everything pertaining to communication including nonverbal signs, language and the literal meaning of words.
