This theory believes society to be a system composed of many parts that work together to benefit the whole (Henslin, 2011). When one part of that system fails a social problem is created (Henslin, 2011). The older adult population relies heavily on the government for retirement as well as healthcare benefits. The social problem that I have identified in that population is inadequate funding into Medicare.
