1. What does it take to be a “good” leader or manager? 2. What are the primary barriers and challenges associated with health care leadership? Relating to the management role it takes dedication to be a good leader. In being a good leader it takes compassion of others. Motivating, coordinating, and energizing individuals and groups to work together to achieve organizational goals (Baack &Fischer, 2013). A good leader is able to be open minded and is able to be a good listener they appreciate all their employees by understanding their needs. In management being able to take on multiple skills is essential some are staffing, coordinating units, organizing, and controlling. In order to be a good leader it takes effective form of communication skills this will help with understanding the stressors and assessing the emotional well being of it's employees. Being a good leader is someone who motivates their co-workers not using it's job title as a threat to others. In healthcare there are many challenges involving healthcare one is being consistent and understanding by meeting the needs of others. Lack of teamwork can allow room for error to occur. In leadership roles it's important to show appreciation for the staff by giving incentives for all their hard work this is sometimes overlooked.
