Career Development Plan Summary Joe King University of Phoenix Proper planning, scheduling and cost control are vital aspects to the overall success of Industrial Design and Construction. As the rapid growth of Industrial Design and Construction “IDC” continues, upper management request the need for a segmented project controls group. Currently, the project managers are responsible for all the project controls functions. As IDC secures larger and more complex contracts, project managers are unable to perform the project controls functions. An effective planning, scheduling and cost control system allows us to improve our efficiency in a wide array of areas. Good planning and scheduling allows us to have better pre-job meetings by developing a “Master Construction Plan” and enables us to make estimating a more exact science. We are better able to manage our projects when labor demands and equipment schedules are pre-determined. All these things will help to hold us all more accountable in a post-job meeting by providing invaluable constructive feedback. This is needed and essential to our success but is dependent upon our ability to assimilate correct information. Accurate information is the most powerful tool of any officer or manager in this industry. To know where a job stands at any time is a necessity if we are to stay at the top of our profession. A source independent of any job is more likely to retain its objectivity. This empowers management to take as much corrective action as is needed. Work with other department managers to identify that the information being generated is reported timely and is useful Project Controls Personnel (Salary Range $65,000 to $85,000.00) Qualifications: 1. Bachelor degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration. 2. Minimum of two years of field experience related to industrial construction 3. Minimum of two years of planning, scheduling, and cost control related to industrial construction 4. Level 2 knowledge of Primavera software Responsibilities: 1. Based upon the Estimate Documents develop a preliminary schedule a. Schedule to be reviewed by estimator, project manager and superintendent b. With assistance, develop a detailed manpower loaded schedule on which the job sequence will be predicated 2. Participate with the project manager in leading a pre-job meeting to develop a Master Construction Plan a. Pre-job meeting will incorporate all aspects of the job including as necessary but not limited to: - Project Manager - Superintendent - Estimator - Project Controls to take notes as needed - Safety - QC/QA - Fabrication shops (as needed) - Other subs (as needed) - Upper Management - Human Resources -
