Moses Gueyger Husr 111 COMMUNITY RESOURCE PAPER For my Community Resource Paper I targeted the homeless population of Uptown Whittier in the County of Los Angeles. The City of Whittier has a population of 85, 331. according to a representative of Whittier First Day, the homeless population in Uptown Whittier can vary from 50 to 100 at a time. Some homeless find shelter in alleys in Uptown,while others go through the various programs in the area, like Whittier First Day, St Matthis Church, and some of the Christian based recovery homes in the area for help. Many of the homeless population of Uptown Whittier suffer from Alcoholism, Drug Addiction, and or Mental Disorders. Others have fall victim to the current economy, and just have no where to turn.
The objective is to find areas that raise difficulties and eliminate them to speed up the process. A third objective would be to extend the space needed for the crucial departments in the company. The space is too tight for an efficient production and by creating more space, the organizing would be better. This
The criminal activity stems from the homeless person basic needs not being met such as: shelter, food and clothes (Charmard, 2010). The cost associated with criminal activity for a homeless person can range from $15,000 to $20,000 a night for tax payers (National Alliance to End Homelessness [NAEH], 2012). In the beginning of the 1900s, social agencies started to supervise foster parents. This was the beginning where children’s needs as individuals were considered when placements were made. Foster care is a system of institutions, group homes, and private homes for abandoned, maltreated, and orphaned children. Placement in foster care is a solution to the care problems of children whose parents are unwilling, unable, or judged by the legal system as unfit to care for them. Foster care is unfavorable to American society, because “according to national statistic 40 to 50 percent of those children will never complete high school.
The organization, Habitat for Humanity, is a global volunteer organization that focuses on providing adequate housing in poverty stricken regions in the world. It was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, and boasts members such as Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn. HFH has rehabilitated more than 300,000 homes, to provide a shelter for more than 1.5 million people around the world, in the past 33 years. Volunteers are able to provide their knowledge and experience to help build houses and communities in countries such as Egypt, Indonesia, and the United States. Some of the volunteer activities include administrative duties, managing the finances of trips, construction management, research, and volunteer coordination.
Many people argue that development is vital in the younger years in the child’s life, and the ability to solve problems and apply ideas help in the long-term. Hyman argues that the lower classes create a self imposed barrier to learning their values. This is because he believes that they have a low value on education, with a ‘play safe’ culture and also a low level of self belief. This would all impact on the child performance at school as they would not have the attitude needed to progress. If at any point they failed, they would see this as a big mistake and give up and have a lack of motivation.
Habitat for Humanity of Russell County, AL began the affiliation process in February of 2000 and was affiliated in September of 2000. Phenix City has Homeless Shelters and Services for the needy which also provide other homeless resources such as transitional resources for the homeless. Homeless clinic and treatment center resources are also provided on the right navigational bar. Thanksgiving volunteer events, Health & Welfare Organizations services, Angel Food Ministries from different churches providing low income families food every month. Telesis Plasma Resources, Inc. provides monetary donations to every person who donates their blood to the plasma center.

The commitment of this organization to low-income families is seen in more than 150 communities across the country where the Family Promise networks provide safe shelter, meals, and support services to get families back on their feet, while addressing the underlying causes of homelessness. Due to this significant drop in learning, students are often at different intellectual levels and teachers have to be creative in coming up with solutions to combat this. Teachers use multiple methods such as one-on-one teaching, peer tutoring, and starting the learning material quicker in the beginning of the school year (Von Lunen, 2011). Yet according to the article, the surest way to keep students’ skills sharp is to keep them in school as much as possible (Von Lunen, 2011). Many schools are looking into schedules that model year-round schooling. Information of Interest Through my years of schooling, I have always noticed how difficult it was to retain information from one year to the next.
Through this correlation, one can see how such factors can keep children in impoverished homes throughout their lives. Education is a social problem in the mix of poverty. In many low-income cities, a good education is very rare for many leaders of the household. This lack of education usually results in generational poverty. In other words, children end up following in their parent’s footsteps by dropping out of school at a young age.
