Most current and future college students assume the ubiquitous ACT and SAT tests that millions of students have taken over the years are developed and maintained by the government. However, a company that calls itself The college board is the owner of the SAT and CLEP tests, and ACT Inc. owns and maintains the ACT test. These two different tests are supposed to be able to test a person that wants to attend college. It is suppose to test their ability to understand knowledge and how well that person would do their first year in college. On the contrary it does not do any part of that. The College Board and corruption within the College Board makes it difficult and unfair to students that apply to colleges. Both the companies are a non-profit company they make more of a profit then most. In the same article by fairtest.org states that “The fact that these companies are allowed to be the only game in town for admissions testing into institutions of higher education is a travesty when looking at big corporations like chevron and ATT they are not allowed to take over all of the gas companies in America and ATT is not allowed to take over all the cell phone companies in the united states because it would destroy our economy and this needs to be challenged by administrators at the school themselves if we ever hope to have true reform in the testing industry” was said by the same article on fairtest.org. “When a student or a parent clicks on the internet to sign up for AP and SAT tests they type in collegeboard.org not .com but .org because its suppose to be a non profit organization that is suppose to not collect money for their own profits and benefits” said in the same article by
