Although the first degree burns are minor burns, they should be taken care of. They heal by themselves within a period of some days. As soon as the skin gets burned it should be put in cold water. It is better not to apply any ointment on these burns as they heal by themselves. But if they are a bit more serious and cause more swelling than a mild ointment can be applied.
LAB THREE: Body Tissues and the Integumentary System Describe the characteristics of epithelial tissue. (5 points) - Cellularity - epithelium consists almost entirely of close packed cells. - Specialized contacts - they fit close together to form continuous sheets. - Polarity - all epithelia have an Apical Surface (upper surface) and a Basal Surface (lower attached surface). Hence, all exhibit Polarity.
Describe the characteristics of epithelial tissue. (5 points) Epithelial tissue has many characteristics. It is composed primarily of closely packed cells with little extracellular material between. The cells fit close together to form continuous sheets. The cells are held together by lateral contacts.
P2- Outline the structure of the main tissues of the body In this written assay out the structure of the main tissues of the body. The tissues I’m going to speak about is cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm; organelles – mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum (smooth and rough), Golgi apparatus, lysosome. Tissues Tissues are sets of the same cells carrying out particular functions these include; epithelial, connective, muscle and nervous. Epithelial tissues are the inside layer of internal and external surfaces and body cavities, including ducts carrying secretions from glands. They may be composed of some layers of cells, called compound epithelia or just a single layer which is known as simple epithelia.
Cell Membrane The cell membrane is a thin semi-permeable membrane that surrounds the cytoplasm of a cell. The membranes function is to protect the integrity of the interior of the cell by allowing certain substances into the cell, while keeping other substances out. It is a fluid phospholipid bilayer embedded with proteins and glycoproteins. The phospholipid bilayer is arranged so that the polar ends of the molecules (the portion of the phospholipid that is soluble in water) form the outermost and innermost surface of the membrane while the non-polar ends (the fatty acid portions of the phospholipids that are insoluble in water) form the centre of the membrane Nuclear Membrane It is a double-layered membrane enclosing the nucleus of a cell that controls what enters and leaves the nucleus. It can also be called nuclear envelope.
Outline the structure of the main tissues of the body Below, I will produce an assignment on the main tissues of the body. There are four main tissues and I will be explaining them in detail below, using key words, which will show I understand the tissues and what the key words mean in this context. The four main tissues are: * Epithelial * Connective * Muscle * Nervous Epithelial Epithelia are the lining of the internal and external surfaces and cavities. This includes tubes or channels, which would be carrying secretions from the glands in our body. The epithelia can be made of several layers, which would be made of cells.
Epithelial Tissue: Epithelial tissue covers the whole surface of the body. It is made up of cells closely packed and ranged in one or more layers. This tissue is specialised to form the covering or lining of all internal and external body surfaces. Epithelial tissue that occurs on surfaces on the interior of the body is known as endothelium. Epithelial cells are packed tightly together, with almost no intercellular spaces and only a small amount of intercellular substance.
Typical exposures to humans are much lower; thus any risk of causing cancer is believed to be small at the level at which humans are exposed. Formaldehyde can affect people differently. Some people are very sensitive to formaldehyde while others may not have any noticeable reaction to the same level. Persons have developed allergic reactions (allergic skin disease and hives) to formaldehyde through skin contact with solutions of formaldehyde or durable-press clothing containing formaldehyde. Others have developed asthmatic reactions and skin rashes from exposure to formaldehyde.
In stage two the epidermis will be broken and there will be a shallow wound or sore. It may weep or seem dry. In stage three the wound goes through the dermis into the fat and muscle layer, the wound would be deeper than stage two. In stage four the wound reaches through the muscle and sometimes as far as the bone. There will be little or no pain in stage four as tissue is destroyed.
They are not a cure, but they can stop people from becoming ill for many years. The treatment consists of drugs that have to be taken every day for the rest of a person’s life. The aim of antiretroviral treatment is to keep the amount of HIV in the body at a low level. This stops any weakening of the immune system and allows it to recover from any damage that HIV might have caused already. These antiretroviral drugs
