4) I believe the behavior of this mother was the cognitive theory, because she was struggling with depression at the time. She wasn’t in her right state of mind she went through with killing her kids. 5) I think the neurotransmitters that played a role in Andrea Yates killing her kids was that of serotonin and nor epinephrine. Since she was suffering from postpartum depression as well as schizophrenia and bipolar with the combaniation of those really affected
She also experienced a lot of mental abuse from her mom, who seemed to cut her down more than anything. When it came to her relationship with Melchior, she just seemed to go with the flow. She kind of got sucked into doing things that she, possibly, may have not done if she would have had a closer, more open relationship with her mom. Wendla longs to feel loved and at one point, even confuses the physical abuse that one of her friends experiences at home as real love and begs Melchior to hit her. She was a very lost child that needed more attention on the home front.
Kuntz’s case eventually went to trial and it was found that she did in fact have legal duty to call EMS due to a common law exemption. Kuntz and Becker lived together for six years. There are several other cases along the same guidelines. In the state v Mally, Micheal Mally was accused of manslaughter because his wife had fell and broke body parts and he just layed her in bed for the night and didn’t call doctor. On top of the Mally’s wife had a failing kidney and liver.
I couldn’t answer to my conscience if I did”(O’Connor, 9). But actually this is just an excuse of her to visit some friends in east Tennessee. This seemingly trivial warning is also used as foreshadowing to set up a big irony: it is the grandmother that leads the whole family to the Misfit. The ostensible kindness is a proof of her selfishness. When the Misfit kills her family one by one, she never begs the criminal to spare the life of her children.
The last time she contacted the school was the day before her daughter took her own life. Gabbi Dix has still not returned to her home where she found her only daughter dead. She blames the school for not even attempting to ‘clamp down’ on the tormenting school bullies. Gabbi also contacted the governors of her daughters’ school asking for the policies on bullying that they have in place – she received no reply. She blames the girls who had tormented her daughter to her death.
She was still a child at this point, but that didn't matter in her master's eyes. The curse back then was being a beautiful slave girl. This was wrong and shameful to hear for the others, but no one could ask the master to stop because punishment would be unleashed upon the being of truth. Linda had to coup with it for a long time, even if she was a girl, the master had no respect in those aspects. She was told to submit to him, and if not done so the treatment would get worse and worse.
This part of the poem shows that women really do suffer the loss of a baby and that sometimes some women wish they could take back what they have done. The woman who wrote this poem expressed that she felt like she had created an empty hole by choosing to abort her innocent child. In March of 2002, a retired nurse who had witnessed two full term abortions participated in an interview given by Scott Johnston. The nurse was unsure of what she was in for; she just did as she was told which was to go to the delivery room. For both of the abortions that she had witnessed, her job was to hold the baby in order to keep it in the birth canal.
I found myself infuriated and judging this woman I had never met, blaming her for her actions. In my opinion she was using the insanity plea to save her own skin. After doing some extensive research I found myself touched, even moved and full of compassion for a woman that was lead down such a self destructive path by an overbearing, controlling, rigid conservative religious nut named Randy Yates. Most mothers who kill their children are younger and generally start out as teen-age moms. Andrea Yates doesn’t fit the profile of a mother who would kill her children.
If I didn’t live up to her standards in any facet of our relationship than it was a direct result of my drug addiction, even if her standards were unrealistic for even the most normal of people. In most cases it was because of my addiction, but the label had a very strong effect on how she perceived me. In the case of my parents, no matter what went wrong or was missing in the house, it was my fault. I became the scapegoat for every issue because of my status of being the junkie son. The last example of the labeling theory has to do with a girl I met last year that I really connected with.
If they had been the doctors, he would have used them for slaves without even thinking twice about it. With Linda’s thinking, if they were Mr. Sands, she believed they would have a chance to be free due to Dr. Flint’s disgust. Though this was not the case, it was a choice she had to make. In addition, Linda had to take into consideration the fact that Mrs. Flint already disliked her so she would be likely to kill her if she fathered Dr. Flint’s
