Communicating with someone who is non verbal or deaf can be very difficult as they cannot tell your there needs, getting used to the person is important so you gets used to different things they do to communicate with you. 1.2 Explain how effective communication affects all aspects of own work Effective communication is to understand service user and assist them in according to that. Nothing can be done properly without a complete communication. As a care worker, if I could not be able to communicate with my service user because of communication barrier then the service would be unsuccessful.

1.2 Explain how communication affects relationships in the work setting. We use communication to build relationships in our workplaces with our peers, bosses and the people we support. If we communicate positively to one another then we will get positive results and work in a positive environment. This will help build good working relationships amongst staff and the people we support. Positive communication will help colleagues to trust each other and have the confidence to voice their opinions, ask for help, give advice and share information which will provide the people we support with a strong team that they can trust, negative communication will have the opposite effect.
Communication is also a great way to show another person encouragement or to make others feel valued and understood in everyday life. Communicating with people such as our fellow employees, the individuals we support or relatives and friends of the individuals we support is an essential tool to someone working within the care setting and this is a basic requirement of the job. To ensure that all fellow employees who support our service users are working effectively, it is essential to communicate effectively. Effective communication can help to ensure that all fellow employees recognise and remember all policies and procedures. It can also help during instances such as reporting a complaint or incident.

Sometimes a person’s reactions can be an indicator of how well they have understood what you have said to them, or whether they agree with you.

Residents- all residents have different needs and abilities if effective communication is established then it creates a more enjoyable healthier environment for everyone. We as carers can establish what each resident needs as an individual and can be sure that we are giving the correct help to those who are in need of it. Staff- Affective communication in the home affects the whole staff team in a positive way as everybody works well together and they know what their job roles and responsibilities are, they also know the different routines within the different shifts and are able to stick to these so the resident’s day does not become disturbed. It is essential in a workplace like a residential home to have efficient communication because without it the home would not run smoothly, and could have disastrous consequences i.e.
With colleagues it’s normally via text or email and occasionally by telephone. Staff meetings have recently started up again which can only be good to meet and communicate with various members of staff. Good communication is important as it reduces the possible mistakes which can happen. Good communication ensures proper care to clients. I believe it’s important for everyone to work as a team so we all reach the same goals.
