He had a brilliant mind and the ability to share his thoughts with society. Ralph Waldo Emerson was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on May 25, 1803, to his parents; William Emerson ,and Ruth Haskins Emerson. Ralph had seven siblings, and he was the fourth out of the eight children. Interestingly, Emerson is Gemini, which means he is," able to see quickly the weak points in those they meet, and can reduce all to nothing by wit, sarcasm, or mimicry."( " Gemini. Ralph Waldo Emerson was an inspiration, Everything he wrote together in perfect harmony. The literature he wrote included Nature in 1836, The American Earsley 4 Scholar in 1837, The Over­Soul in 1841, Self­Reliance in 1841, The Poet in 1843, and The Transcendentalism in 1842. Most of his works was about human imperfections. What needed to be changed in our society. " These are the voices that we hear in solitude, but they grow faint and inaudible as we enter into the world. Society everywhere is in conspiracy against the manhood of every one of its members. Society is a joint­stock company, in which the members agree, for the better securing of his bread to each shareholder, to surrender the liberty and culture of the eater. The virtue in most request is conformity. Self­Reliance is its aversion. It loves not realities and creators, but names and customs."(" Emerson. Self­Reliance") This quote is talking about how society wants conformity instead of being one of a kind. These days you see the same thing, but back then you saw the variety of people, religions, customs, and looks. He cares about individuality and idealism that is important in life. He has gone through a lot in life to where he know what is important in life and what is not. Emerson was torn up from the death of his wife, Ellen Tucker Emerson. "Emerson's wife, Ellen Tucker Emerson, died on February 8,1831, at the age of nineteen. Emerson was desolate, but quickly returned to his duties at the second church."(" Emerson's Essays. Biography") I believe that when his wife died it almost destroyed him. Although it hurts to lose a parent or sibling, i think it was harder losing the love of his life. I believe this shaped his work. I would love to copy his ambitions for education ,but i would also like to be as successful as he is. The reason is that at the point i am in my life i want to know that i will be a success in life and not a failure. I know that in order to succeed, you have to fail, to make mistakes. But knowing i am failing all the time, it hurts alot. He gave me the ambition to be myself.Emerson is an inspirational writer to the young and the old.
