Torricelli ran for reelection in 2002 raising more than 2.9 million dollars in campaign funds. • Abruptly quit the race because of “ethical misconduct” Then later was stated “he accepted campaign gifts from a contributor. • Two months after quitting the race he found a lobbying practice called Rosemont Associates that had clients in Taiwan, Puerto Rico, and the United States. • Torricelli gave $10,000 to Illinois Governor and more than $40,000 to a Nevada Democratic party which all linked to the Senate leader Harry Reid. All these politicians had one thing in common which was they all had some influence over Torricelli or his clients business interests.

When Filt brought the card to some sport-card grading services, they all said the card had been refinished and trimmed.

The consequence of the improper research conducted by the city was that to begin with they spent 10,000 to pay the University then they paid an additional 10,000. When it was all said and done they paid out a million dollars because they had a lawsuit against them. Boaters Inc. put in requests one right after another to see the documents day after day. The city got tired of it so they hired the private investigator. In my opinion if they did not want to waste their money paying the University to do their work why would they hire a private investigator?
The charges were essentially trumped up, but Socrates was a controversial figure in the city. Also, his behavior at the trial did not make the jury very happy. The jury first voted on his guilt or innocence, and that vote was pretty close, but the majority voted that he was guilty. Then, he was given an opportunity to suggest a punishment, and his speech at that point apparently angered many of the jurors. His story made international and national headlines. It's estimated he took his investors for a cool $65 billion over the course of nearly two decades, which affected many of his clients, destroyed families lives and their savings, as well as betrayal to his own family. The scheme wasn't revealed until Madoff himself confessed his crimes; even with that being said he still doesn’t take full responsibility for his actions. Madoff himself later said he was "astonished" that the SEC failed to catch him.
