Demonstrating understanding of the person, health and environment helps to drive nursing practice and patient care. (AONE, 2010) Leadership is not just managing but facilitating.
Nurses face ethical dilemmas everyday at work. Keeping all that in mind, to guide nurse in their work operation, there are some values. In order to develop services that are of use to the patient, ethical dimensions in nursing practices should be taken care of. The key value towards nursing practice is knowledge. Knowledge is consider as one of the most important values towards this profession is to ensure that under different situations nurses can act in a right manner along with providing relevant measures.
Because the values and responsibilities of nurses is shaped by history the report was based on this idea, and was developed as a historical evidence grounded modern data. History shows evidence of what nurses can achieve, like how nurses were the founders of community health practices. History also helps in arguing about major policy issues. The student nurse will reflect on health promotion issues as this stood out to me in several areas, The student nurse discovered that although we can nurse a patient back to health it is so important to make the patient aware of how necessary it is for them to participate in their care by adhering to what is recommended to them by various members of the Multidisciplinary Team and the devastating consequences that the patient can encounter if advice is ignored. The student nurse will use the Gibbs (1988) reflective cycle, this encouraged thinking systematically about all phases of an activity. Gibbs (1988) is descriptive with regards to feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusions and action plans, therefore ideal for this assignment. Although I experienced many different aspects of care regarding health promotions this assignment will concentrate mainly on a single event that will stay with me throughout my nursing career. According to Scottish Government (2010) Healthcare Quality Strategy for NHS Scotland, nurse’s carers and people at the heart of the healthcare and care delivery services should improve conditions in NHS Scotland and the care provided, on reading this strategy I understand a nurses responsibility, but the importance of patient participation in their own care is invaluable and the cooperation and communication with the Multidisciplinary Team is essential to complete patient care package to the highest standard.

I note that their knowledge and experience from multiples years of nursing prepare them for position that they are now in. The staff nurse provided more direct involvement in her role on the team by educating her patients during care. The nurse educator, on the other hand, was involved with her team indirectly by educating the staff on patient care issues. The interviewees’ position on promoting quality care outcomes requires them both to be directly engaged in the plan of care for the patient’s on their respective units. Although national evidence based research effects nursing as a whole, the staff nurse believes that nursing research has greatly improved her area.
