On one side Holden’s interest in human interactions drive him to find and build relationships of his own, but on the other hand he uses his alienation as a wall of protection from outside forces. An instance of this is when he goes on a date with Sally Hayes; his solitude forces him to crave love and affection from another human being but his isolation and fear of being hurt from another person cause him to drive off people easily. In conclusion we learn that Holden feels isolated from everyone and everything. In spite of living a seemingly happy life and going to one of the best schools in the country, Holden hates everything and everyone and believes everyone is fake. Holden’s sense of superiority is just a veil to cover his insecurities and his social criticism of everyone are just ways to project his negative qualities onto another person to make himself feel

Forrester is a incredible published author as well as a teacher. He is very hostile at first, but accepts Jamal as a friend later in the movie. Forrester has agoraphobia and does not leave his apartment. He is very secretive and does not like disclosing personal information about himself. He is a very eccentric person and does things quite differently like wearing his socks inside out because he claims they are poorly
The replicants are artificial, the memories are artificial. Technology has well and truly taken over. Akin to Frankenstein, Blade Runner acts as a severe warning to the depressing future we may have if we try to push advances of science and technology further and further beyond the limit. As before mentioned, it is the hubris of the protagonists in each text that causes the highest diminution of humanity. In both texts, both protagonists seek earnestly to become God-like by taking on the role of creator, Frankenstein with the monster, and Tyrell with the replicants.
The Puritan community in The Crucible was vulnerable in many ways and susceptible to irrational and panicky accusations of the Salem Witch Hunts because of their strict and constricting ways. The children in the community are treated very poorly and less than everyone else in the town. As the Salem Witch Hunts were essentially started by the children the fact that they were treated as lesser beings contributed to the communities demise. “He (Reverend Parris) regarded them as young adults, an until this strange crisis he, like the rest of Salem, never conceived that the children were anything but thankful for being permitted to walk straight, eyes slightly lowered, arms at their sides, and mouths shut until bidden to speak,” (Miller 3). Miller foreshadows the Witch Hunts to come.
Crooks is a man, supposedly young but disabled, that likes books and keeps his small room neat, but has been so beaten down by loneliness and prejudicial treatment of that he is now suspicious of any kindness he receives. Racial discrimination is part of the microcosm Steinbeck describes in his story. It reaches its height in the novel when Curley's wife puts Crooks "in his place" by telling him that a word from her will have him lynched. Interestingly, only Lennie, the child-like character, does not see the color of Crooks' skin. Crooks isn’t ashamed about his inheritance but has pride and tells Lennie he doesn’t descend from slaves but from landowners.
An example of plot in treating people equally occurs with Boo Radley. In the book many people don’t like Boo due to all the gossip they have heard about him. These people have their “eye’s closed” and should not have a negative opinion about Boo Radley because they have never met him and gotten to know him. They need to open their eyes and realize that they cannot judge Boo because they have never met him. Another example of plot in treating people equally occurs with Tom Robinson.
She shuns the luxuries of her brother’s mansion, for the quiet comforts of Gods creation. She abstains from the town gossip circles, for time alone to allow more time for inner reflection. These characteristics should make her a good role model but instead she is simple labeled as a witch for her peculiarities. She is so misunderstood that even a so-called devil child can see her goodness “What is it, good Mistress Hibbins? (Hawthorne 237)” Mistress Hibbins is a lonely, widower that misses her husband and wants to be with him.
The universal truth behind this story is that the innate differences between men and women coupled with lack of communication will cause a marriage to stagnate and become an uneasy compromise. Insensitive and inconsiderate of his wife's feelings, Michael openly admits his attraction to other women. Frances wants to know his true feelings and he gives them to her cold, "I got all this stuff accumulated in me because I've been thinking about it for ten years and now you've asked for it and here it is." (7) He does not acknowledge his wife's despair; he knows he is wrong and yet he feels righteous because so far it has only been a physical attraction. Michael blithely dismisses his wife's pleas for reassurance.

Some people drastically visualize the Earth with robot companions and flying cars, and others don’t think society will advance any more than it is currently. The progression of technology, however, seems to be the main topic of individuals’ views. In the short stories “Harrison Bergeron”, by Vincent Benet, and “By the Waters of Babylon”, by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., portrayed the future with a negative outcome. The reader can interpret the two short stories as a warning to today’s and future generations on abusing technology.
