Unit 201 Manage own performance in a business environment 1.1 Outline guidelines, procedures codes of practise relevant to my own personal work. There are many guidelines and procedures in place to enable me to do my work. This is not only to do my job to the best of my ability but to a professional manor. My job includes correct procedures to greet visitors, answer the phone, dealing with incoming and outgoing mail as well as many other procedures. 1.2 Explain the purpose of planning work, and being accountable to others for own work planning is essential to manage your time in a constructive and responsible way making sure all actions are carried out. Planning helps me to be organised on a day to day basis. While planning you have to consume as much information as possible to be able to carry out accurate notes, making your work as efficient as possible. Writing everything down has two purposes. First purpose is you are planning what you will need for example what tools are required and what the job is. Secondly you need to write it out which others will see. This way if u are questioned on your work you can explain what they have asked so that you are accountable for you own work. 1.3 /1.4 I can explain realistic targets for my work by first making sure I have the resources I can use and if I have set a realistic time scale so I am able to do it in time, allowing myself to do other jobs that have been allocated to me. This lets me help my colleagues out with their jobs which could be passed on. 1.5 To meet agreed deadlines I should make a list of my work and complete all the work with similar deadlines. I should also plan ahead what resources I have available for example; equipment, information and so on. I shouldn’t make promises to something that I cannot meet the dead-line for or if I feel that I may need more time on a
