CRN:23166 Going to high school is an experience, because walking into any high school for most teenagers is like walking into another world. In one’s opinion high school could be considered a metaphor for the real world because school is a subculture in itself. The text book attests that, “While in school, young people acquire identities and learn patterns of behavior…exposed to a hierarchical, bureaucratic environment...[and schools] emphasize conformity to societal needs...” (Margaret L. Anderson, 2008). Choosing The Breakfast Club to analyze social inequality seemed like a perfect example to write about. The movie explores the relationship amongst high school students who are socially separated, are forced together and find that they had more in common than they initially thought.
Arcadia High School Problems In the school of Arcadia High School there are a couple of bad things about it. Even though our school is highly rated and we perform exceptionally well, we have a lot of internal flaws that most people don’t see. The biggest flaw I see as a student is our technology. We are lacking in current technology because we our spending our money on buildings and revamping parts of the school but not any of the classrooms. One big thing that AUSD spent their money on is the new bleacher for our football field when our other ones were perfectly fine.
In chapter three, the Quality of Teachers according to Horace Mann “the education and the quality of the state’s teachers was the inadequate preparation most teachers had received” (S&S pg. 73). Considering many of the teachers had not received higher education or proper training because the universities offered pedagogy whereas not all offered a full teaching program. However, in modern American, not only is there a sufficient source of educational programs that provide future teachers with diversified pedagogy, the programs also offer a practicum component were teachers can conduct classroom
This money goes into the pockets of coaches, executives, athletic directs, funds the school, and some scholarships. Not only are athletes so tightly fettered to these contracts but they are affected in the classrooms as well. Athletes may spend more preparing/training for games than they would to study for school. * Few players who have aspirations and dreams of becoming doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc * Caters to schedule This results in little academic achievement. For most this would be considered a full time job.
Katie Gathman Professor Star College Comp 16 October 2013 Pro Co-Mingling Legislation Apart of the typical every day college experience would involve the opposite sex. Usually having mingled classes with both male and female is a good part of the college experience since it gives the opportunity to expand a persons social circle and gives the chance to intermingle with the opposite sex. Some students have come from all boy and all girl high schools, which they may not of experienced the opportunity to socialize and talk with the opposite sex. Saying all of this, I am against the Anti Co-Mingling Legislation because I believe that socialization with the opposite sex will help later in life, having the opposite sex in a classroom does

The time I remember most was in my high school year trying to fit in with the other students. I was just trying to find my own identity and relate to others. In my first and second year of high school, I was in an Esol program, even though I was born here in America. I had a good time in the Esol program.
In classes today, many teachers focus on tests and assignments, leaving an insufficient time to give their students to let their creative juices flow. As well as budget cuts often leading to cutting classes such as, art or music. While some school may offer creative opportunities, many schools
Unlike our current time, musicians were seen as low middle class individuals during the eighteenth century. They were usually employed by churches and royalty since they were in need of individuals that could produce a lot of works for their continuous events, yet they were usually underpaid. Another option was being a freelance musician, but that was risky since they would make even less income since they would not be stable. Mozart is an example of someone that attempted being a freelancer, but it wasn’t great for him since he was in debt and always in need of money. Regardless, Mozart was able to produce an overwhelming amount of music that influenced future generations.
There are more important class than one that requires students run around for an hour, and the fact that all students are put into one class, rather than being separated by physical level of fitness and skill in sports, only makes it all the more unfair. To add to it, the class seems to take priority over other classes. Why should students that plan on pursuing a career in music be forced to spend their time in a gym class? While completely removing gym from the school course isn’t a great idea, allowing it to be a chosen class rather than a required class could help students focus on their own goals. School enforces a healthy lifestyle, and that makes sense and is a good goal for schools to have.
When students can purchase the exact same book on the Internet or in the collegiate bookstore for $80.00 to $95.00 that is a shame. Another reason that students have lack of funds for textbooks is they decide to spend their textbook money on miscellaneous items. Some students on the Alabama State campus will spend the funds that their parents or they set aside for textbooks to go do miscellaneous things such as go to the parties, buy groceries, going out to eat or the worse thing, buying new clothes. Next, some students do not have a textbook for class because they are irresponsible. For some strange reason, students act as if they do not need a textbook for the course.
