Outcome 1: understand how to plan work and be accountable to others. 1.1 Outline guidelines, procedures codes of practice relevant to personal work. There are a number of guidelines and procedures in place to enable me to do my job not only to the best of my ability but in a professional manner. Whilst on the reception area, there are procedures that need to be followed relating to various aspects of the job including correct procedures to answer the phone, use sage, filing things away, doing purchase orders etc. All the steps and guidelines for everything are kept in a PowerPoint I made that is basically a step by step tutorial on what to do for each thing. 1.2 Explain the purpose of planning work, and being accountable to others for own work. Planning is essential to manage your time in a constructive way to complete the actions to be carried out. Planning helps to be organised on a day-to-day, weekly and monthly basis. While planning you have to obtain as many details about the piece of work you are doing to enable you to produce your work as efficiently as possible. You can write your plans down on a to-do list - Writing down everything has two purposes. Firstly, you are planning your job and the tools you need. Secondly, you are making a written account of your job for others to see. In this way, if you are asked what you have done at any time, you can show it to them and be accountable for your own work. 1.3 Explain the purpose and benefits of agreeing realistic targets for work The purpose for agreeing realistic targets for work is to keep everyone on task and focused on accomplishing a target that is obtainable, not out of reach. This means that everyone can contribute effectively and reach targets efficiently instead of struggling to achieve the impossible. The benefits include fast and reliable compliance and completion of tasks at hand.
