In many situations their peers are aware of the abuse and don’t know how to approach the situation. Many abused individuals who are confronted by their peers deny any accusations in fear they will be alienated. Unfortunately, there seems to be a stigma on the abused and surprisingly some people assume the victim did something wrong and got what they deserved. Because of judgmental people who lack empathy victims of abuse conceal the harsh realities they face daily to prevent rejection. Thankfully, domestic violence advocates are there to help individuals who seriously in need of positive guidance and support.

Melinda thought there was something wrong with her, like she was useless. She had a lot of trouble making friends and when she did make a friend her depression drove them away. Melinda's depression even caused her to cut herself and contemplate committing suicide. Melinda's depression could have been avoided if she had learned to overcome her past earlier. Next, if you don't overcome your past, you will never be able to get on with your life.

However, one new international agreement, the Hague Adoption Convention, has somewhat displaced the adoption agencies. In essence, the convention acts as a guide book, but many countries take it as standards, though they lack the technology needed to uphold it, causing a negative effect. As a country begins to develop, it also develops a new sense of pride. People become offended, believing that they are capable of raising their own children. In result, there are families that can provide medical care, education, and a safe home to these orphans, but they are left dying because of the countries pride.
It's only my opinion but it seems that way to me. Either they are not affected by it, or perhaps when it hits, it just slides off their backs, or better yet, they stand up to it. Conclusion I am aware that ageism does exist, but other than the incident above at my work, and the trouble with my grandmother and her doctor disregarding her, I have not really experienced it personally, but it disturbs me that it even does exist. That a person could be disregarded, minimized, taken advantage of, abused, neglected just because he or she happens to be 60+ makes me sick to my stomach. I plan to advocate and be a help to people such as these in my future career as a social service worker.
They feel as though they cannot relate to others because they are different and no one will understand what they are feeling or going through. Humans generally want to be accepted by others. Those with PTSD feel as though they will never be accepted by friends, family and peers if they disclose the feelings they are having or the traumatic event that occurred.
