Is Macbeth Responsible For His Downfall? Who is responsible for the downfall of Macbeth? He is manipulated by the witches, encouraged by his wife, but ultimately he chooses to act. His first conference with the witches, Macbeth’s ambition was planted and his mind was overwhelmed with thoughts of murder and betrayal. It fair to say, in addition, that if his betrayal caused this extensive pain that clouded him after he murders Duncan, Banquo and the Macduff’s that it wasn’t a case of fate and was his own doing.
When people find out that the king is murdered they accuse the guards. For this reason, Macbeth kills the guards because he is afraid that they would deny killing King Duncan. As Macbeth is crowned king, Banquo starts to suspect that Macbeth cheated to earn his title. When Macbeth knows that Banquo suspects him, he hires murderers to kill him and his son, Fleance. Not only was he terrified that Banquo would expose him, but he was afraid that Banquo’s line would all become kings in the future, as according to the witches’ prophecies.
His own human nature, paranoia and selfishness are what leads him to his death. Macbeth is to blame for his death at the end of the play. Macbeth is manipulated by the witches and believes in their prophecies. The witches have considerable influence over Macbeth throughout the play. First, their early predictions stating that he will be king, and then the predictions of the apparitions saying that he only could be murdered by someone that was not born of a woman.
It was easy to listen to the witches ;however it caused him to lose his wife and kill his friend Banquo. In the song he also became lonely because of the decisions he made. The witches controlled Macbeth like a puppet on a string. Telling him how he would become king made him determined enough to kill the king “Listen as the crowd would sing/ “Now the old king is dead! Long live the King!(7/8).
They wanted to blame the guards for the death of King Duncan. Lady Macbeth tells her husband that she can not kill him cause he reminds her of her daddy. She convinces him to kill King Duncan. The only reason Lady Macbeth wants him to kill King Duncan is so Macbeth can become King . Once King Duncan was killed Macbeth killed the guards because he was scared.
Laertes and Claudius had a plan of revenge to go after Hamlet for causing Laertes’ father death. At the end of the play while Laertes and Hamlet were fencing, Gertrude drank the poison which was suppose to be for Hamlet because it was part of Laertes and Claudius’ plan. Laertes got stabbed by Hamlet with the poison sword and Hamlet got stabbed as well but made sure he killed Claudius before dying. At the end everyone ended up dying just because plans of revenge did not turn out like they wanted. Other people suffered because of other people’s faults and mistakes.
Who do you trust, your king or your conscious? Many characters in Macbeth had to make this very choice as there kingdom was slowly deteriorating because of a tyrant of a king. Macbeth written by William Shakespeare is the story of a brave honourable soldier who ruins his life due to his own greed for power, respect and wealth. This play begins with three witches who inform Macbeth that he will become king. It is clear to all readers that Macbeth is not simply going to wait for these prophecies to come true, after the previous king Duncan is murdered.
Lady Macbeth is Macbeth’s wife and she wants him to kill the king. Macbeth bounces back and forth with his decision to kill the king or not. Eventually he decides that he is not going to do it until Lady Macbeth talks him into doing the deed. Macbeth killing Duncan changes his ordinary life into a special world where it is okay to kill the king. His next trial was what he was going to about his suspicious best friend Banquo.
The prophecy stated by the witches, that Macbeth would become king, prompted Macbeth to make that a reality. However, the witches never said that he would murder Duncan, or that he would become so paranoid and guilt-ridden that he would be his own undoing. Indeed, is not the point of fate that it achieves what is meant to be regardless of the path chosen? The witches also stated that Macbeth would rule, but Banquo’s descendants would rule Scotland. So, naturally, because man is a sinful creature, Macbeth sets out to destroy Banquo and his family, eliminating the possibility of Banquo’s descendants becoming kings.
He wants to solidify his power so he kills Banquo and attempts to kill Banquo's son Fleance, but fails. Macbeth starts to feel guilty and sees Banquo's ghost. Soon the witches appear again telling Macbeth to beware Macduff, no man born of a woman shall harm Macbeth, and fear not till Birnam Wood comes to Dunsanine. Macbeth follows the witches warning and kills Macduff's family, but Macduff is not around. He’s actually in England trying to convince Malcolm, Duncan's son, to return and kill Macbeth.
