Personal Narrative: My First Car 2012 Chevy Cruze

A little over a year ago, I purchased my first car on my own. The 2012 Chevy Cruze priced at $20,900 fit in my price range and was also pleasing to the eye. After a short test-drive, I decided it was the car I wanted. However, after a few months of driving my new Chevy Cruze, I started to find things I didn’t like. The Chevy Cruze I purchased was the cheapest package available. It came with wireless Bluetooth, USB connections, automatic windows, automatic locks, and a sleek gray and black interior. However, the car did not come with cruise control or automatic seats. Automatic seats wasn’t a deal breaker for me, but it is quite annoying when I have to pump the seat up or down. The engine only has a few little bugs. But some of them are just an annoyance. James R. Healey, a car reviewer for USA Today, says, “The car usually shifted fine, but too often it was guilty of rough gear changes and slightly balky hard throttle downshifts” (3). Most new cars have smooth gear shifts and you can almost never feel your engine downshift. I have to say, the first time I heard the hard clunk of my engine I thought something was wrong with my transmission. The car is considered a “compact car,” meaning that it is smaller than a sedan. Even though it is a four-door car, there is almost no leg room in the back seat and you don’t have to be that tall to eliminate the leg room in the front seats. The snug backseat is about the same as a two-door car. The Cruze wouldn’t be a good car for someone who has kids, because you can barely fit a car seat in the backseat.
