I thought it was important to note that Miss Walker took advantage of this opportunity to involve her students and have them use their math skills. As soon as role was taken, Miss Walker had her students prepare for their first task of the day. She handed out 3 stories with questions at the end for them to answer and gave specific instructions. I think it is also important to note that she instructed the children to color the pictures on the stories when they were finished so that they would be able to stay busy. Once the students seemed to understand their task and began working diligently, Miss Walker called the first reading group back to the reading table.
As the teacher with a great smile come inside her room to greet her students, then she introduces herself to them, trying her best to feel them welcomed and comfortable. Throughout the school years, those children learn how to read, write, and socialize with others with the aid of their teacher. As they grow older, mentally and physically, their learning standards would expand and enhance. Each subject gets difficult every year. More presentation, discussion, and analyzing an article or story that they read in class.
I did my observation at Horace Mann Elementary school 2nd grade classroom. When I entered the classroom, I felt very welcomed, Mrs.Bradley had all the students welcome me. It was a very colorful classroom covered with the children’s art work. The children seemed to feel very comfortable around each other; they all appeared to be communicating well. The goals of the children in the class room are to actively participate and understand the information taught.
She is mostly in her office or running from classroom to classroom, talking to the teachers of the students in LAC and keeping track of what each student is working on and has to complete. Students come to the LAC to receive help with homework, write tests, or just to hang out and relax throughout the day. Most of the students that I have met in the classroom seem completely normal but they come to LAC
On-campus classes make it easier to communicate one-on-one with your teacher. If you need any help or just have a question, you can speak to your teacher during class and/or speak to a student in your class. Any assignments that you get can be completed in class, on-campus, or at home, then turned in to the teacher. The books needed for your classes are owned by you, so you can make notes and highlight the text in the book if you need. It is harder to procrastinate while taking classes on-campus because you begin the homework in class (most times) and have the teacher to notice if you did or did not submit your assignments.
Students take quizzes and tests. In all of these ways, middle school should feel somewhat familiar to new students. However, there are some big changes that new middle school students should be aware of. In elementary school, students usually stay in the same classroom with one teacher for most of the day. That is not the case in middle school, where students typically have a different teacher for each subject.
All students’ interests, strengths, and cultural backgrounds are welcomed and valued. I treat all students equitably and interact and communicate with them to make them feel cared for, listened to, and respected. My efforts to respond to all student questions and to remain patient and calm contribute to my comforting, welcoming classroom environment. At the beginning of the year, I communicate my rules and expectations clearly and directly. I require students and their parents to sign a contract stating that they have read and understand my behavioral and academic expectations and consequences.
Children feel valued because they are getting involved within the activities in the classroom. Children are confident because they have spoken to the class already and know that people are going to listen and not laugh. Staff know more about the children because at parents evening for example they will know a lot more about them from the parents because they can have a one to one chat with them. Diversity is celebrated which helps to reduce discrimination because the early years practitioner will get everyone involved within the activity and will not leave anyone out of
There are some motivational ones, math ones, school and classroom rules, and the school objectives. The teacher has a large marker board in the front and then a smaller one that looks like graph paper. In the front of the room is a table that has supplies on it. It has pencils, pens, calculators, rulers, and paper. The students are allowed to use whatever they need from this table.
During the lecture, she also made good use of pictures and overheads. Then she began asking the class questions on what they already know or what they are supposed to know as this in-service is mandatory and given annually in this facility. I believe this method helped the class to interact and get more involved in the learning process. She used the same method throughout the lecture. It was quite apparent that she has sufficiently motivated the staff.
