D1 – Evaluate the extent to which the design of a selected website helps the originating organisation to meet its objectives. The ASOS website is the only way ASOS can achieve their objectives because they only sell their products online. The objectives of the ASOS are to increase sales revenue, to become a leading fashion destination and to increase customer satisfaction. Increasing Sales Revenue One of ASOS's objectives is to increase its sales revenue. The ASOS annual reports enable us to find out if they have reaching this objective. It shows us that ASOS has increased its sales revenue from £339,691 in March 2011 to £494,957in March 2012. This tells us that the sales revenue of ASOS has increased over the past year. The website also enables them to achieve their objective of sales revenue because they only sell online which means that the website is theirs only means of increasing sales revenue. However, this may also go against them because without stores there sales will be lower than they could be if they did own shops. The website also helps to increase sales revenue as it is bright and eye-catching that could encourage people to buy their products. The website also helps to increase sales revenue as the delivery service offers free global shipping, which could increase sales exponentially. However, this does have exceptions as it does not deliver to some countries. ASOS also add 1790 new clothing lines a week and already have 50,000. This would help to increase sales revenue because customers know that there will be plenty of variety on the website, which would mean that they would buy more things. The security on the website would also help them to achieve their aim because it helps build trust between the customer and the company, this could mean that more sales are done as a result of this, which again helps them to achieve their aim.
